I do want everyone have the full data that wants to analyze it. Here is a log with a lot more variables for people that want to determine more about knock. I simply ran the car two more back to back pulls with identical results. If this isn't proof enough of no knock, then I am not sure what is.

Nice write-up bud

My friend has a Methanol Injection kit on his GTI... makes a nice difference in power, consistent power too due to the cooling factor.

He has a little green light that lights up when he floors it to tell him the meth is working. Pretty cool mod IMO.

+1. DIY of the year award.

This must have taken as much time to write it up as it did to install the kit!

Truely a valuable asset to the car and the cause (speed!).

It will take much longer than that if you aren't VERY comfortable with the trunk, undercarriage, engine bay, battery and moving and removing panneling from various places.

Great review man! You make my reviews look like I'm in pre-school!

FYI though. My friend was running meth in his trunk and it spilled.
The next thing he knew--his car was on fire.
That's right, his car went up in flames, totalled.

Mike@N54Tuning.com,

I hope you get a chance to read and enjoy it.

dlbrooks18

No problem and I am glad you enjoyed the review!

oddjob2021

I am not sure if I saw your install or not. I looked over a ton on the internet when I was trying to decide where things would work best. Send me a pm if you have pictures of you kit.

stressdoc

Thanks for the kind words.

Soni

Thanks... I tried to be thorough. lol

O-cha

The question was "How does the controller go off IPW". Snow is refining the Stage 3G controller now to accept the higher voltage and different wave form on the Piezo injectors.

kjrulz

You and JP definitely need to get on this. It transforms the car!

M3_Kidracer

Thank you for the compliments on the install! I am very happy with the way it turned out!

The drilling is really minimal to be honest. Just a few small holes in the trunk liner, plastic tray, and for mounting the SafeInjection. This is next to nothing to be honest.

hipertech

Thank you for the compliments on the install. The kit took about a weekend to install, but I was really shooting in the dark. I think if you follow this DIY, then you could get it done in a day. It all depends on how clean you want things to be.

NRG

Thank you for the kind words on the install and review.

XPO186

Thanks!

RiXst3r and JPSimon

Don't worry, I will be at the dyno soon.

cincy335i

Thanks buddy. I worked very hard on this project so it is nice to see that everyone appreciates the effort. Trust me, I am enjoying it!

There are numerous hardware differences in the kits. The Snow Performance SHO pump is the most powerful pump out there and it is an exclusive to Snow Performance. Their nozzles on the Snow kit have filters built in and elbows to make an easy install. Snow has a check valve in the pump and a solenoid to prevent siphoning (can hydrolock an engine). The kit is really top notch in ever aspect.

The whole tuning strategy is designed around "ease of use" for the end user. No tables or anything like that to confuse the process. They want high performance without difficulty in setup.

No problem! I am watching the progress on your car as well.

GreenPlease

Thank you for the compliments and I am glad it is a helpful review.

MTV

You are 100% right. Run to run consistency is unmatched now. It is basically like having a car that doesn't heat soak at all now.

The Snow Performance Kit doesn't have a green light, but the controller shows injection % and a red light illuminates when the power nozzle is spraying, so there are still multiple forms of confirmation.

BavarianBullet

Thanks for the DIY award! The writeup was very time intensive because I have tested so many different things and I wanted to make sure the DIY'er will know exactly what they are getting into. I think I probably put 12+ hours into this writeup.

roozie2001

I am not sure, but it should easily be a 1 day job for a shop because they have a lift. I didn't use a lift because I wanted to show the average DIY person can do this. I would guess maby $150-$300 or so for a shop?

Raflekt

Lol, thank you for the vote!

ar design

Thanks AR... that means a lot coming from a manufacturer.

If you bring this DIY with you on a laptop or printed out, then I bet it will speed up the process.

Thanks for the compliments on the review. You have done great work, so that means a lot to me.

Do you have any more details on the spill? How it occured? How long the methanol was there? I have the low light indicator that would tell me if something was leaking.

Thanks man.
The only info is what i said. The meth leaked and that stuff is super flamable. He agreed to let me see the pictures once the insurance was all said and done.
It wasn't pretty, he had to watch his car burn. No bueno!

It is really no more flamable than rubbing alcohol or gasoline. It has a flash point of 148F, so heat inside the trunk couldn't ignite it. I am guessing he had a massive leak go un checked and it leaked through everything and eventually onto the exhaust. I think like any mod, you need to look things over and inspect vital parts.
