what color is the smoke?

You will smell exhaust burnt fuel(white smoke) pretty much all day with catless dps.
It's a different story if it's burn oil smell (black smoke).

New cats will have a bit of a burning smell for the first 50-100 miles. Also all the oil from the techs hands will be burning off the surface of the pipes.

A little burning of smoke is common on a new exhaust component. So the question is how much smoke, what smell, and is it going away as you drive the car more?

A used set will smell much less than a new one, unless your tech was really greazy.
