Tires on 17" rimms

I would like to have the tires on my four 17" 8J rimms staggered but I donīt know if Fwd 225/45/R17 Rear 245/40/R17 combination will work may be itīs better to have 235 or 245 all over, if so wich aspect ratio? 40 or 45. Wich tire will you recomend?

You should run 225/45/17 front and 255/40/17 rear. Check your manual - it's in there.

That would be ideal but I think my 162 style rims are 8Jx17 all four, so 255 itīs to wide for the 8J, it would be great if the rear rims were 8.5Jx17.

I put 245/40/17 on my 17" rims. All 'round. They look great and drive well.

Like, I said, no problem with 245/40/17 on mine. The 225/45/17 will be fine as well. My stock tire size is 225/50/16. For comparing tire circumference, I like to use this tool: http://miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Being out by 1% or so is no big deal, stick to that and you won't have any odometer anomalies. The ABS and DTC should be similarily unaffected so long as you keep the circumference the same. The larger your wheels, the higher the unsprung weight, so braking may be a concern ... especially if you're looking at 19" or 20" rims.
