Anyone with red light camera ticket experience GTA

A friend got a red light ticket with a company car.

He filled for court already.

Im curious if anyone has any advice or tactics to tackle this issue based on their past experience?

Your best bet is to talk to a paralegal that fights traffic tickets
They'll tell you the chances of beating it and whether its worth it to fight it or not.

Go to court and two things will happen;
1. You'll get away with a warning of some sort;
2. Reduced fine and different reduced charge.

Hard to fight when you're on camera.... Paralegal or not.

Its a charge that is connected only to the license plate of the car, not a personal charge per say, as they did not give you a ticket with your individual driver's license on it.

I would just pay it. Cost of a paralegal would be around the same.

Pretty sure the registered owner would get ransomed for the fine amount when they go to get new plate stickers.

What if that day you gave your car keys to your sister, who then gave them to your mother and finally your father. You pick up your keys the next day. Find out about the ticket, and they and or you do not know who was driving at that time?

Was it a red light camera?

I got a ticket few years ago turning right slowly on red. Any ways I told the judge I was very slow, but she said yes but you still need to stop lol. Any ways I asked for a reduction, she reduced it and there was demerit points even though it was a moving violation. But if you got pulled over by a police then thats a different story.

I'd rather take my own shots of the car then have the government do it.

At various intersections in the GTA there are cameras setup to snap shots of people going through an intersection when the lights have turned red so that they can be fined after the fact. It is meant to be a deterrent as the various intersections are often the ones in which accidents occur at a higher rate and usually caused by people trying to beat the lights.

so what are you guys saying? They can't tie it to your license or insurance if its a red light camera? Doesn't it count as major conviction on your license? or just against the plates?

When you go to court, do you tell the prosecutor I wasn't driving at the time? and tell them your relative or GF who doesn't even live in this country was driving the car at the time? Can they still put the blame on the owner of the car, or not?

is demerit points take away as well, what if they reduce the ticket?

it doesn't get tied to your license but if you go to renew your plates it comes up....

my gf had one a few months back... honestly don't waste money on a paralegal for this... i went with her told her to tell them shes in school only working 1-2 days a week, on osap etc. they dropped it down to $60.00 and 3 months to pay lol.

just advise if they drop it down always ask for a month-2 to pay it to make it seem like you are struggling and it's hard to pay a ticket like this... unless you have a douche of a judge... in that case just go in and say you need time to get a paralegal for this and go in next time and try a sap story.

Not tied to your license as the camera does not pick up who was operating the vehicle at that moment in time. Hence, no demerit points for anyone. The ticket is tied to the plate.

One could not/very difficult to argue and beat the ticket either. If you have seen one of these tickets, they have two photos of your car. A photo of your car at location A and another photo at location B. Both are timestamped and if the difference in time is not over a complete 3 seconds, you are "caught".

A red light camera ticket is simply a fine. Go in and plead for a cheaper payment if you have the time and patience to go to court.

+1 on not bothering getting a paralegal for this - it makes no sense to.
