new member new car

Hi everyone

Just traded in my mini GP for a 56 318i M Sport. This is what happens when you start a family i suppose!
On the test drive i noticed that the gear stick vibrates when in netural. getting the dealer to check before delivery but is something that happens with all 3 series?

Welcome!

Is it the 6 speed manual you have?

If so... mine doesn't vibrate when in netural although does move about when going over bumpy roads which is odd....

Very nice car, good to see the 18's rather than the 17's, its amazing that apart from not having the chrome slatted grill your car is identical to my 335i M Sport.

and its in the best colour aswell!

Congratulations, v. nice looking car.... made me think about changing my black order, I used to have a silver z3 (hence the name) and it always looks nice and clean in that colour!

Doesn't sound right re: gears.

welcome mate

Sparkling Graphite is a NIGHTMARE for the dirt... much worse than my previous car which was white... so you've done a sensible thing there with the TiAg

i was suprised too, but let me rephrase it...

it gets dirty just as easy, but things like watermarks after cleaning etc. is much worse

suppose i've just gotta buy a good shammy to sort that... (never had to dry a car before due to watermarks)

Gotcha, makes sense. White streaks on a white car, no probs!
Dreading sapphire black on mine for cleanliness but becoming convinced I should stick with it now.

I don't seem to get watermarks, but then we have lovely soft water round my way.

Yes, I totally agree - watermarks are a real pain on Sparkling Graphite, almost wish I'd gone for Space Grey or Silver...

OT (What's new?): Get yourself some Zymol/Meguiars microfibre wipes. MUCH better than a chamois! So much so that water marks are a thing of the past even on Sapphire Black (now there's a bitch of a colour to clean/keep clean ).

Thanks, looks good. Got any handy links to guides on care/washing/detailing? I don't plan on spending 8 hours and 500 quid cleaning my car but want to keep it pretty nice looking.
