Calgary - Where do you get your brakes done

I know someone who nees all four brakes done on her E90 (323i). They have a quote for around $800 to do the work from Knibbe Auto.

Where do E90post members go to get their brakes done? I thought I saw a little while ago BMW had a brake special where they were doing them for just over $500.

Any suggestions on where I can get a better price?

I thought of that Miguel but it's not my car and I wasnt sure about doing them.

I've done brake jobs on domestics before but never on a BMW.

Plus I chewed my locking wheel nut key like an idiot while putting my winters on so my confidence in my mechanical abilities has taken a hit....

Don't let a stripped lock nut get you down. My tip is to get rid of those. I am like you in that I have summer wheels and winter wheels and I got rid of those lock nuts as soon as I got my car. BMW will charge you for the four new bolts but its worth it not having to worry about keeping that wheel lock key.

As for brakes, I own a 323i and asked another 323i owner about maintenance with his car and he got his brakes done at the Calgary dealership. I can't remeber how much but he thought they were reasonable. I think the important thing where ever you go is to use BMW pads and rotors.

The DIY is very clear, I did my rear brakes in a few hours, reset the CBS and was good to go.

Stripped lock nut?

Did you strip it by using an impact wrench?

No not an impact wrench. The key slid out a bit while tightening; plus it was a crappy flower type. I just replaced the lock nut set with a better design, it works fine.

They did the brakes at Knibbe auto. Turns out only the rears needed to get done but they had to replace two rotors..... Not sure what the all in price was
