I bought a 320d 2010 about 2 months ago and just figured that I don't have the special bolt for the alloy wheel. SHould I have expected this?

Do you mean locking wheel studs themselves or the adapter key to remove them?

The key is stored in the tool tray in the right side of the boot, under the manual (on my e92 at any rate). Liftout the manual and the grey/black tray cover it should be in there.
If it isn't there then it can be requested from and dealer, you'll need you VIN for this.

You should expect to have locking wheel studs on a UK spec car unless the wheels have been changed from originals.

I was wondering about this the other day. The key looks pretty simple; do we all have the same key?
Would I be better of investing in some aftermarket ones?

1. No,there are a number of different variations.

2. Yes,without a doubt,the BMW lockers are rubbish,and the scrotes who nick OEM wheels will have all the available unlockers in their toolkit.

thanks for clarifying. I did think the design looked too normal to be deemed as unique. I will make a move on this when I get the wheels off for spacers.
