1st Beemer -325i m sport

Hi. Search is over!

Bought a 325i sport in grey. Wanted a 330i following recommendations on hear, but was finding I difficult to get one in my budget and the spec wanted.

Happy with my purchase and collect next week. In the meantime, need t source black grill and dark rear lights!

Looking forward to properly joinin the forum now as an owner!

Congrats! Is it the early 2.5L or the later 3.0L? I believe that the 325i was actually the more reliable so despite a few less BHP, you've got yourself a decent car with that lovely 6cyl BMW lump.

I had the 2.5 325i, very sweet and smooth engine, needed plenty of revs to perform though. In the end I tired of the lack of torque but still fondly remember how smooth that engine felt.

It appears to be the early one, 2.5l

When I drove it, it felt plenty quick enough.

Has all the toys, even a sunroof. In London you spend so much time in traffic, figured a could settle for 325 over 330.

Maybe that will be a future upgrade if BMW ownership is a positive one.

You picked the better of the two in terms of reliability. That 325 is pretty bullet proof. The 6 cyl 3 litre version that came later very commonly suffers fuel pump issues, etc etc.

Get some pics of the motor up!

Having just bought a 3-litre 325i coupe, I'd be interested in what the "etc, etc" are. Mine had a new HPFP before I got it...

x2

I have a US Spec 325i (3.0 liter)

What reliability issues am I missing / apparently due to experience?

I think the turbo 3.0's have the issues.

I think the etc, etc's are Hpfp and related problems like injectors, plugs and coils.

I have the N53(3.0) 325i and have had a new Hpfp paid for by BMW whilst out of warranty and injectors changed under recall.. but no other major problems touch wood.

The Hpfp etc etc problems definately do affect the NA petrol engines aswell as the turbos.

HPFP and coils yes.

Mate of mine (Moe_ on here) had all coils replaced, 3 fuel pumps, HPFP, and in the end an ECU... on his 3l 225i... 58 plate.

Within 18 months!

Maybe he was unlucky but seems it's quite common to have a whole range of fuelling issues!

Whereas I've not personally heard of any problems with the 2.5l variant ..

HPFP is not on the 3.0 N52 only turbo models ( N54 ) " Direct Injection " Cars.. N52 3.0s do not have the HPFP issues.

I don't think I've run into anyone with a US spec 325i that had as many problems as the US 335's despite also having 3.0 litre Inline-6's.
