A few years ago, the market for '07-'09 BMWs was very tight because there were not many sold during the recession and a lot of people wanted off-lease BMWs. Now there is a glut of BMWs in general and those years are not as desirable, possibly because of the perceived N54 engine issues. Within the last year, I bought an '09 E93 335i with 65k miles for $14k AND an '08 E93 328i with 63k miles for $10k (and an E61 535 with 100k miles for $10k). The '09 was perfect but the '08 needed about $1k worth of misc and is now perfect. I just sold my also perfect (not even a stone chip) '07 E90 328i with the sports package and 110k miles, and got $6500 for it. These cars are now 2 generations old and seem to be bottoming out, price-wise. The good news is that an $8K BMW, if properly maintained, is not likely to ever be worth much less than that. I've had a few BMWs that I have had for a few years and sold for more than I paid for them. Doesn't help if you are trying to sell now, though....

Oh, and just stick to your guns on the price. I had plenty of jack asses low ball me on my 328. After 3 weeks, I got exactly what I was asking for it.
It's only going to get worse for anyone trying to sell their car in the coming months/years. There are tons of subprime auto loans defaulting now, and they're increasing in number monthly.

Just wait till this newest debt-driven all-assets bubble really pops and we restart the vicious cycle off selling everything to pay the debts off again. This is going to be worse than the 2008 crisis.

Of course anyone with lots of cash to burn will be able to pick up whatever they want when the big sell-off picks up speed.

I agree (I don't think it will be worse than '08 though).

I got a ridiculous used car loan back in November. I have NEVER heard of an unsecured loan on ANY car much less a used one. And the rate was only 1.7%. Insanity. It reminded me of when I refinanced our house in 2004 and the bank was trying to shove $40k more down our throats than we were asking for. I was like "huh?" Three years later the light bulb went on. I'll be ready with cash this time....

Do BMWs ever sit out where parts are pulled from them? Blasphemy!! I did this for my Maxima and there were surprisingly a lot of them, then again, it's a common car. Not one of the wiper linkages could be removed, all rusted out!

Obviously we all saw the video with the BMWs being crushed, by BMW.....

I agree, mine's getting an antique plate put on at 25 y.o., as I'm the original owner...

That is low, I bought a '06 Lexus last Oct., so inquired on a loan and was told 3.49%, no way Jose, I only get 1.05 or at the time that's what I got, in savings, so I paid cash. I'm kinda of the camp too, if you need to borrow on a '06, maybe you need to get even older....but if I wanted a 17, 16, 15, pretty sure the rate is 1.9% for used, or it once was...

You would have refi'd since '04 obviously? Never take cash out imho that's exactly how they like to sell refis. Let us roll the title insurance in, and the fees, give you more money out, and give you a lower payment. Um, yeah, but I was supposed to have my house paid off 2017, and now it's 2030

lightbulb: banks don't want us to pay off our debt, they want to service our debt

Exactly. People in the market for an older E90 will find that instead of $5-8K, they can spend $2-3k and get a fine BMW automobile that is easy to work on. Doesn't have nav and blah, blah, but it's got power windows, locks and sunroof, power/heated seats, a 5-speed, and drives like BMW should (and used to).

But there's just one thing, Dude. Do you have to use so many cuss words?

Yep I got 1.7% for a 2012, 60 months, and NO LIEN. Insane terms, people will be defaulting on these for sure. I will have it paid off by next summer but if I just paid the minimum monthly I would probably be upside down already.

Of course. I'm at 2.85% fixed now.

I had the same issue getting rid of my fully loaded 2001 330i a few years ago. KBB was $5000 to $7000. I listed for $4700 for a quick sale because I just already purchased my 2011 335i xDrive

Dude I had so many low ball offers even with the price already below KBB! Some as low as $500!

It was mainly teenagers bringing parents to see the car and I spent a lot of time watching these kids begging their parents to buy it for them BUT the parents were either worried about safety or trying to haggle the price down to ludicrously low figures because they really didn't want to buy their 16 year old kid a 16 year old BMW 3 series!

I would never again sell a car privately! I would rather take the financial loss at trade in than deal with the endless low ballers and tire kickers who come to buy your car.
NEVER AGAIN!

My car was mint with all the trimmings; navigation/bluetooth/lifetime SiriusXM/xenons/foglamps/power rear shade/new tires/all books and keys/all service records/HK sound/compass homelink mirror/Steward 5HP+ water pump/electric fan/etc...see pics below

Never negotiate price on the phone.

Tell them to come see it in person, cash only.

I hate lowballers, flakers and scammers.

2.85% is good, I'm at 3.37%, but it was a true no-fee since it's not a mortgage, called a 10 yr. first lien position home equity, no title insurance, only a $67.50 county fee to dispose of. Like 6 yrs. left and I can't wait. If wifey has her way, we go back up to 30 yrs. and a McMansion, I dunno, maybe....buddy says overrated (living in a McMansion)....rather live modestly and have no house or car payments except school and prop taxes...

Probably the best maintained E90 in the area.

Yeah and the only thing I need to do for the dipstip to work is replace the engine. I don't care how well maintained it is I can't see anyone giving more than 2-4k for that car.
