Lowercase a next to Radio Station?????
Hello,
I recently leased a 335i Sedan with I Drive...... I noticed that on a few stations, there is a LOWERCASE 'a' that proceeds the frequency of the station. Any idea what that is? I was thinking it was traffic info, but I turned off traffic info to see if it went away. (It didnt.....) I searched for this, but couldnt find anything related to it. I have also sent a message to my very knowledgable salesperson. Ill post here if I figure it out. THANKS! Last edited by searay28; 01-05-2007 at 09:53 AM.. |

I thought that at first, but thats not it. Autostore is only for AM. I dont have an autostore option for FM.
It seems to be showing up on Public radio stations also....(NPR etc...) Its KILLIN' me. I cant stand it when I dont know what something is. |

Never seen this on my car. I'd like to see a photo, too.

Please find Photo attached.
Slight modification to my original post......Its not next to the Freq....It only appears when RDS is on and it appears next to the station name. I have seen two stations do it......Only one is doing it right now. |

It could be something embedded in the RDS data. A Google for that station and RDS turned up this site: http://lists.bostonradio.org/piperma...er/010368.html
One of the things RDS can do on some cars (not sure about ours) is find alternate frequencies for the same station and automatically go there when the first signal becomes too weak. It appears that your station in question, WCRB, changed from 102.5 to 99.5 recently. So maybe the 99.5 frequency is currently the "alternate" frequency, hence they are broadcasting the RDS signal as "aWCRB." Just a guess.
