DIY Request: Removal of TPMS from wheel

Does anyone know of a DIY to remove TPMS from a wheel?

Thanks!

I'm actually not sure this could be a DIY. To remove the TPMS sensor from the wheel, you would need to let all the air out (preferable by removing the valve core). Then you would need to de-bead the wheel using something pretty strong...like a pneumatic shovel. After that, you have to push the tire down to expose the TPMS where you can remove it with a socket wrench.

The sheer force required to do it would be pretty hard to manipulate at home without a tire mounter.

and even if you did manage what he said above, it'd be amazing if you didn't damage any part of the wheel or tire or break the tpms itself

There is no TPMS device installed!
These cars have DTC, remember. So instead of relying on TPMS, DTC feeds back info on individual tyre speeds. In case of air-loss, tyre size reduces, changing tyre speed, and thus the system reports a flat. (This is why you need to reset flat tyre monitor every time you air up).

Just took a look at my OEM wheels with the TPMS and it looks to be easy to remove once the tires have been removed from the wheels. All you need is a screwdriver with a T20 (hexagon type) head (first 2 pics below). Then a wrench to remove the metal valve stem part (3rd pic). My only problem is to remove the rubber valve stem from a wheel with a no TPMS....how do you do that??? check my last 2 pics below if you're not sure what i'm talking about.

Why not have a tire shop take care of it? They have the tools and knowledge. I am sure they would do it for free or very nearly for free. The rubber stem can be cut on the inside of the wheel and it will pop out. I assume you have an 06 and bought one of the wheels from an 07 or later that is why one has a sensor and one does not. Tire shops have a tool to remove the rubber stems, heck you can probably grab it with pliers from the inside and yank it out.

all you need to remove to take it out is the i think 12mm(could be an 11 i forget off hand) to remove the nut on the front side of the wheel..then simply pull the sensor off with the stem and electronics and all...obv with the tire removed

just came back from the tire place today and it turns out they just use a razor blade and cut the rubber valve off.
