I bought some Doug's Headers Electric cutouts awhile back intending to put them on my 08 E90 335i and now I think I am going to go a different route all together. Never used them, still in original shipping box. You can find out more here, but these electric cutouts are the best on the market:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/do...50ak/overview/

You can search on this forum for some other examples and owners who have done the electric cut-out option. Any decent muffler shop should be able to put this in for under $100

This is a KIT and includes the side pipes and all the electronics, this kit is the 2 1/2 inch kit. Paid $480 originally
LOWERED! $350 shipped

Yep. Google electric cutouts 335 and you'll find a bunch of people running them. It's an alternative to straight pipes all the time.

Sorry I have been slow to get back to the OP I was the swap candidate. I did some research and these will NOT fit anywhere upstream of the secondary cats, which unfortunately makes them useless for me. But if you are looking for some increases sound... You can get this in just before the mufflers and make a whole bunch of awesome sounding noise.

Just wish they were viable as a power adder

It's cool. But you could just get catless dp's then straight pipe to a xpipe and then dump it right after the xpipe. That would open up the power for you and you would see a diff on the dyno for sure. You can search for dyno results on straight pipes and see some postings.

I've read the low profile units are needed for our exhausts. Have you fitted these OP? Reason for selling?

Have not fitted these before, but have had them looked at by a shop here in Dallas who said that it would be an easy job. Heres a video of another 335i with similar cutouts:

Oh, and I am selling because I just changed my mind about how I wanted to do the exhaust, might go with a single tube from the downpipes back instead but I am really wanting a FMIC before working on my exhaust.

No, those have to be welded on. The video was for DMH cutouts which I have researched and tend to fail and leak.

That's what I read as well. My biggest concern is all electric units leak eventually. I don't like the idea of having to buy new cut outs every couple years.
