So I finally overcame my fear of yanking out the air box and cutting that useless charcoal filter. I was very careful the when I tried considering I've never done it before. If you have confidence in yourself it should take under 10 min. If you're like me it takes around 20 constantly checking I didn't lose anything. I finally twisted it out (you need some force) and took it apart. Just used a normal knife to cut it out and then sanded it. Then some warm water and a good dry. Put it together and slotted it back in. Take your time when you put it back in, it's worth it, everything should line up. Took the car out right after and noticed that my RPMs rev much faster thus making your car sound louder lol. It's only been an hour but as of now I feel like my cars just a little louder through the RPMs but definitely not helping that 0-60 time for sure. The car does feel more natural with the air flow, I highly suggest people do this it's very easy and has some noticeable results. As the ECU adjusts I'll let you know how it goes. Video coming soon!

I just did this last weekend. Ordered a k&n filter and then basically did the exact same thing you did. I can honestly say there is a differrence in sound and maybe a little with the performance/air flow. I should have done this a long time ago.

did this a couple weeks ago as well. i don't really notice anything different in my 330i. maybe a little bit of sound.
