**HELP, stereo system is acting funny..

Hey all,

Wondering if anyone can help me out or point me in the right direction. So my car stereo is actin really weird. In the morning or when the car has been turned off for several hours, the radio and stereo works fine, but after about 30 min, you hear in the background, a bunch of static and then it gradually gets worse where all you hear is jsut static, no music or anything. I'm trying to figure out the problem. I don't think its my head unit (factory, lights and everything seems to work fine on it) so I was thinking maybe its a factory amp?

Anyone have any idea of what the problem is? I love in the MD/DC/VA area.

Thanks guys!

I'm not entirely sure myself - however folks will want to know what kind of system you have - logic 7 etc, professional, etc....

Does it do it with just radio, or with CDs/AUX as well? If its just radio it could be that the diversity antenna is bad and messing up the reception.

if its all stock, normally if the amp is going - ud get a pop and crackle noise and then nothing -- til the amp cooled down and repeated the process..

do you have navi/idrive or no?

the entertainment system is quirky and sometimes has network problems

yes thats exactly what happens. Makes this weird popping noise, which sounds like static. It happens with radio, cd, aux.

if you replace the amp.. plz make sure its the failed component... cuz there are no returns on electronic

you might want to pop off the left rear trunk panel (that where is amp is located) and see if the area has any type of water spotting, or the connector going into the amp has corrosion on it.. if it does then you know there has been some type of water infiltration .... causing higher than normal resistance in the audio circuit ...

contact tischer for a replacement if you go stock .. they have good prices

Old thread but I was just listening to Howard Stern, nothing loud and I heard REAL loud static, then nothing. The chimes don't even work. No CD, iPod or Radio. From the sounds of the previous comments, amp could make sense.

edit: just checked, there is water on/in the amp. How the hell could it get in there? I've never touched the rear taillights, the car is stock.
