When too early to start negotiations?
I am looking to order a MY2007 E90. My current car lease is up in May 2007 and I am wanting to do ED. I want to plan it well in advance, I just wondered if anyone had thoughts on if negotiating far in advance would hurt/help any possible discount I could get from the dealer.

Negotiations...
In my opinion it's too early to talk to your dealer. Get everything in order, financing for new lease or buying etc.. If you let them know you want a new 3er for sure, then they have all the negotiating power. they'll just set the price and wait for you to buy. When it comes time to negotiate your new car you need to let the dealer know that you're looking at other options. And always be willing to walk when you're not getting the deal you want. Make them work for your business.
I'm in sales and when I work with a buyer with whom I know definiately wants my product I'm less apt to negotiate the price. But when I know they're looking at several other products similar to mine, you bet I give up more to make the sale. Remember, the buyer almost always holds the cards. Just don't show yours too soon and you will get a good deal... Good luck. |
