Circuit Of The Americas F1 Austin!

Who's going!? I got GA tickets. Can't wait to see F1 GP, Ferrari Challenge Pirelli GT3 and Grand Prix this weekend! Fan Fest downtown will be live. I do expect lots of traffic. My birthday is during the events too and a good way to celebrate it.

Living in the host city is great. I hope they open track days at COTA.

Considering driving down from Dallas early Saturday morning for Q session and to spend Saturday night in San Antonio for race day. I am still looking for tickets on CL but the traffic/parking situation is a big deterring factor.

Excellent. Welcome to Austin! Most travelers will be coming in on Thursday. But today it seems like traffic was a bit backed up. Not sure if it's COTA related. I have GA tickets and will be taking the shuttle to COTA.

F1

Definitely take the shuttle. Be prepared to walk around a bit to check things out. I liked the GA views from the turn 9 and 11 areas, but look for a nice spot. Awesome track! I am working the turn 1&2 areas for the track.

I looked at the map layout from the COTA website and it shows a GA sport near turn 1. Is that actually a spot? Good view?

Turn 1

Sorry! Burned out from working the race for the last 2 days...14 hour days so, fried out. What an event!! I am one of the point people in an orange shirt working turn 1. Great view and great racing from there and all over. Turn 1 is the highest turn and rhe signature turn of the track. Find a spot in front of the suites or near bleachers...awesome area.

F1

I hope to work events next year at the track...especially F1 again. I am working an event there this Thurs. It is a fund raiser that is mixing in some of the race with raising $ for education in central TX.

The fund raiser was for CIS = Communities in Schools. Very nice event, and an excellent venue. Most of the action was in the Media Building, which is where the media is based for the races, plus outside at and near the presentation podium. They had a Renault-sponsored car there, a GT3 and some others. Nobody was on the track, but I was walking around on it near the start/finish line and near the final turn.

That would be my choice for the first time I go to the track. Be prepared to walk and gawk and check things out.

Honestly, I am sticking to the general admission for the upcoming Formula 1 and this time will be better prepared.

There are other races coming up: Grand Am on March 2, Moto GP motorcycles in mid April, V8 Supercars in mid May. Some great racing.

I was seated in the bleachers at Turn 12. Here are a few of the pics from that day.
