Cool Grom MST4 + Bluetooth Dongle review

Hey all, there's a few replies around this unit here, so I figured I'd post up about my experience with it. I have an aftermarket XM radio using my aux in (and I don't have usb on my car), and when I wanted to stream audio I would have to change aux cables. Annoying at the least, and at the worst, my BT wouldn't connect/disconnected a lot. I looked into the Grom solution and found both the BT dongle and MST4 unit for $140 on Ebay and bought them.

Install: Really easy- Removed 4 screws from oem cd changer, re-pinned ground cable per instructions, plugged everything in, turned it on, and it worked.

Quality: Don't really care, it's a factory stereo/speakers/amp, and I listen to mostly talk radio on my commute (Jason Ellis Show!), but so far it seems be to be decent enough.

Con/Issues: When using the utterly craptastic XM audio app, the audio would constantly auto-pause, and by constantly, I mean every couple of seconds, sometimes immediately after hitting play again. Other apps did not have this issue. I remedied this issue by disabling phone connectivity and contact sharing (my car has factory bt phone integration, but not streaming obv).

So there it is, easiest installation, a bit more expensive than other solutions, but it's very "oem" in utility. When listening to Spotify, the steering wheel controls work for track selection (fwd/back), and I don't have to swap cables anymore.

What stereo system do you currently have in your car? Logic 7 or? You already had the CD changer in your car I assume? How's the music Quality when streaming spotify or whatnot? also, I assume the stock Bluetooth calling no longer works and it is now through the dongle with the microphone?

I'm looking into eventually getting this setup but I wasn't certain on the quality.

Thank you for posting your review!
