P00015 Exhaust is over-retarded

ANYONE know WTF this really means? We've both moved and replaced the sensors, and it doesn't really follow the sensors around. Do I need to see Dr. Vanos to get this fixed? Have to get ANOTHER smog check, and this code is randomly on/off so can't really time when I go for the check.

so you replaced both intake and exhaust camshaft position sensors? did you also replace the tiny little o rings on them? if the old ones were reused and they aren't good anymore, then that could be the problem. it's also possible that it's time for vanos solenoid replacements

I didn't personally do the work, local indy did. I would have to ASSume that the o rings came with the sensors, so he would do that.

We managed to pass smog test again this year, so I have another 2 years to try to figure it out. It's extremely frustrating that even the dealer has no idea what to do, as the code comes and goes.
