Dyno question
Not to sound naive, but what's the recommended procedure to do a dyno run on our 335D's? Specifically, DTC off? Use 3rd or 4th gear? Never done before and don't want to ruin my chances of a decent run. Any info is much appreciated!

Yes DTC off, and the gearbox in that gear that gives the closest 1:1 direct gear ratio
Often in second highest gear. In mine with an autobox the most direct gear ratio is 5 out of 6 gears. But you have to see the gear ratio for the car to figure that out.

Got a baseline dyno done. 100% stock car. Planning to do some performance mods soon.
Also had a word with Eurocharged Canada's Vlad guy. He told me that he can build custom downpipe for our D's and can code out the EGR etc. He claims that car can pass emissions as well. |

while each dyno is different, this car is 25hp above the rated output

I'm not doubting you or them but I've seen countless guys say this and then throw in the towel when they realize what is involved.

haha i know what you are saying, he was very confident about it! i asked him quite a few times and i made sure that i included all the keywords such as DPF, SCR, Encrypted DDE, UREA, EGR, Carbon Buildup etc!

What did they say about doing the DPF? Most won't even touch them. I've heard their rates are quite high there as they deal with lots of high end cars.

Vlad Said that he can make a custom downpipe after taking measurements from the actual DPF. He did show me samples of a few downpipes and the job was really good. He also mentioned that he can control each and every parameter of the car. I can PM you the ballpark figure he quoted me for Downpipe+Tune. he quoted the potential gains to be +60 hp +90TQ WIthout DPF removal!! and with downpipe he said i can expect +40 hp on top of that with an aggressive tune.

Sure, let me know. Have they tuned other 335d or diesels in general via DPF removal?

So the car either makes, in stock form, 265 hp with a loss of only 10% or it makes the same amount of power as the European model 285 with a loss of 16%.
Personally I am inclined to opt for the 285 figure since a loss of 10% is hard to believe. |

Or dynodynamics dynos read high, or the dyno setup wasn't spot on, or a hundred other things. Dyno charts just can't really be converted to stock number comparisons, there are way too many variables. You could set up that dynodynamics dyno so poorly that when you run a stock d it puts out 300 whp, or 150 whp

Like I stated before I got 230 OEM and eventually has gone up give or take lets take 10 whp out as u can see Torque addict got 238 whp OEM so me and him are close. I live on an island he lives elsewhere alot of variables. I will do a dyno run maybe this week or next I want the ecu to adapt to the new exhaust . Anyone ever come to the island is welcomed to contact me for a ride. You whats the best part of this my tune HAS NOT THROWN a code yet my tuner did back his stuff im glad I called Skungilli Racing to confirm that the same tune was working for them prior to me jumping on the bandwagon

My figures are in my signature, as are my mods. I still have the DPF in place but my BHP is calculated at the crank on a dynodynamics dyno. Stock I was at 252, which was down on spec. My final fugures were on the same dyno in similar temp and humidity levels with the same technician. Dyno graph previously posted but can't re load it on this PC The performance improved after running on the road for 100miles and on my previous 2 visits with other mods it produced 10BHP more than the dydo printout after adaption I felt the same improvement with my final remap with all the mods in place.

I was dissapointed with it being under the published figures Unless you meant ATW then mine would have been approx 220 (15% loss for transmission)
