Should I buy an E60 M5?

I have been thinking about leaving the E92 world and trading it in for an M5. Looking to get maybe a 2006 or 2007. What are everyones opinions?

E60 M5 is a gas guzzler, the new one is better. I still prefer the E39 M5. Too bad they aren't making it anymore.

Why the reason for the change?

The condition above is very important. Just be prepared for the maintenance and repairs to be quite a bit more than for e9x's.

Not unless you have warranty with it. Big bills if it goes wrong.

I would love to get an E39 but the wife doesnt like them as much. Go figure. I really want to get a sedan because I am going to be starting a family soon and as soon as that happens I will be stuck getting a crap car. So thinking ahead if I already have the M5 the wife can't say anything about not having room. PLUS, its SICKKKKKK!!!

I was hoping it would be alittle easier to work on. I work on my 335 right now and at times it kicks my ass.

I had on for a year, it is a great car but I didn't trust it enough to keep it out of warranty.

The transmission is annoying around town or in traffic. The engine is absolutely fantastic. It is a thirsty beast, my best tank ever was 17 mpg, my real world average, commuting on the highway with little traffic was closer to 15 mpg. The big V-10 has an appetite for special oil too, oh and tires.

I was personally never a fan of the looks of the 06/07 5 series... and it's definitely a bit dated by now... BUT, for the pure driving pleasure, it's a monster of a car.

The new one is absolutely amazing as well, but obviously expensive as hell. Idk, I would personally stay with a newer 335i than go to an old M5, unless it was a second car.

You need to overdose on brave pills before considering buying any E60 M5 that's out of BMW warranty.

Why do people think that having one kid suddenly means you need a big sedan. Car seats fit in coupes too.

You'll love the sound. So will the new kids! Be prepared to top off the oil every once in a while, and get ready to hate SMG in slow driving. Oh yeah, the fuel range sucks since the tank is more of a pipet.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaah. Good luck with that. A F1 derrived V10 is going to be infinitely more difficult to work on than a turbo inline 6. But by all means try. Someone has to pioneer the DIYs.

I have two kids and w two car seats the kids barely have room for their legs in my 2007 525i. they keep kicking the back of the seats. get an SUV/or a mini van for the wife and kids if u don't have one and get ur self something small for fun.
