e90 Radio dash kit (aftermarket cd player upgrade)

Hey,
Has anyone been game enough to upgrade from stock head unit to a single din aftermarket cd player?

If so where did you purchase the single din dash kit from and what is required to do the swap? ie. adapters, aerial plug etc?

Also does removing the factory unit interfere with any of the functions such as the information displayed for servicing etc. If so how do you get around it?

I have a bluetooth cd player...All steering wheel controls will be fine to connect with the unit...im hoping

Cheers

AFAIK if you remove the BMW head unit, it is bad news.

You will lose a lot of functions. Everyone who removes the head unit and has a car working the way it did before ends up installing the original head unit in the boot so it appears to the car to be in the original location.

although i agree about not replacing the head unit, those blueant things are terrible compared to the bluetooth built into the bimmer. I used to have one in my old car and alot of times when inside the house i would not hear my phone ring because it was still connected to the blue ant in the car - it was however going berserk in the car... They've got about a 10 metre range which is totally pointless for a car bluetooth system.

Chances are it was wired up incorrectly. I have a parrot bluetooth module in my car, it's wired up correctly so its only active when my car is on.

I already have BT and the new cd player I have has BT anyway.

I just want to know how I can install it all without affecting anything and what components I will need. Someone must have done it before?
