Anyone got a home automation system installed?

We are building a new house and are considering a Control4 home automation system. It links HD video, alarm, cctv, lights, and heating into one system.

A mixture of WiFi, POE ethernet, and zigbee are used for control and display. All systems can then be controlled/viewed via the internet or mobile phone.

Just wondering if anyone uses this system or similar - and if they have any info/opinions.

I briefly look at Control4 before i went down the Sonos route for music around my house. The level of automation on the Control4 is amazing.

If you consider the Sonos stuff ain't cheap, the price of the Control4 stuff is a whole couple of levels up. Too rich for me when i was looking, and probably still is.

Would love to read about how you get on.

I'm in the custom install industry, not as an installer, but a manufacturer. I part own a lighitng control/automation company.

Control4, Crestron, AMX, Netstreams, Living Control, Speakercraft... these are all AV systems that are the 'glue' that brings all the sub systems like heating, lighting, video, audio, etc... together.

I really like working in the lighitng/automation industry, you get to see some amazing houses, boats and other 'palaces' !

If you want or need any help... I'll be totally impartial... no REALLY, I will... I hate seeing jobs go tits because they are not planned well.

Control4 is a great systems and if you've got this level of budget, you should end up with a seriously good and entertaining home.
