The first official picture of the all-new Alpina B7 Bi-Turbo has made its way into the internet prior to the sport saloon's world premiere in Geneva next week. Alpina's latest proposal is based on the new 7-Series and it uses a modified version of BMW's factory 4.4-liter twin-turbochargedV87 engine developed to produce 507-horsepower and 700Nm of torque.
The result is a zero to 100 km/h (62mph) acceleration time of 4,7 seconds while the car's top speed is electronically limited to 280 km/h or 174mph. Alpina has not issued any details yet, but we gather that the B7 Bi-Turbo will also feature upgrades to the suspension and braking system. Visually, the B7 has been enhanced with Alpina's signature front lip spoiler, a boot spoiler and a set of multispoke alloy wheels.

But the new 750i is also a twin turbo using the 4.4 litre V8.
So it will be interesting to see what premium Alpina will charge over the BMW version. I bet you can get pretty close to the 500bhp with a simple remap. |

The new 7er engine is the 4.4 twin turbo with 400bhp, but this one is tweaked as exotica says.

I think its a shame that ALPINA are doing away with the H1 engine. It is a beast of an engine.
Also this signifies to me at least that the real bespoke ALPINAS are a thing of the past

It was something when they would take a 2.8 engine and bore it to 3.3, and then supercharge it, but to take the standard BMW and give it a remap and mix the suspension around a bit still using BMW parts is not so impressive. The fact the B3 is a 335i with a remap, difference exhaust and XD SE springs on it and is £20k more just doesn't seem as appealing. OK the body kit is different, but even the bespoke interior is now a £7k extra. |
