Vredestien Ultrac Sessanta - thoughts / opinions!

Ok, more a general discussion about the tread pattern and potentail performance / issues with the Sessanta tyres.

Seems a bit odd to me that the tread isn't mirrored side-to-side but instead the tyres go on the same way and hence you get the 'up-side-down' look on one side.

Surely, if one side is pressing the water outwards and the other inwards you get difference grips / performance characteristics.

Anyone else think this? Anyone have any experience with them or knw a thing or 2 about tyre tread and what-not?

Thanks

SD

I have them on mine, good summer tyres but proving terrible in the wet for me at least. I quite literally 'slide' across the white markers in the road, quite worrying when your going round a bend in the wet and the big arrow sign sends you skating across the road.

Other than they they are great. Good grip in the dry, good looking and reasonably cheap

Got them on my coupe, had them on my z4 coupe before that. No issues with them, covered about 25K miles on them so far.

Strangely I've not had any issues with them in the wet either...

Fantastic tyres - £ for £ the best out there IMO. I haven't had any issues with them at all. I agree that the tyre tread does seem to lack symmetry, but they do work very well.

I will stick my neck on the line here and state that i think i was the first, if not then one of the very first, to put these tyres on an E90 and talk about them on here!! But who cares Steve?? In a few words.... FUCKING AWSOME TYRE!! There, hows that for an honest opinion!!? I first put these tyres on my 335i (the very 335i that Trixman now owns!) - and i thought they were fantastic when i owned the car. I wonder whether the road surface in Spain has something to do with them not performing in the wet - i have ridden my bikes many times in Spain and whenever it rains its like an ice rink down there - i was told it had something to do with the makeup of tarmac over there and the climate etc?? Regardless - i found them very competent in the wet and really quite awsome in the dry. So good in fact that i had them fitted to the 997 C2S when i put the GT3 alloys on. Again, rear wheel grip in the dry was amazing. Ive never done a track day with these tyres and i guess thats where they would be seriously put to the test - but i see no reason why they wouldnt perform. I am currently looking into tyres for my E92 M3 and these will be top of my list. The main reason i like them so much is the cost - they are SO cheap by comparison to say PS2's (which i think are great tyres BUT totally over-rated) - and they have a really cool looking side wall to the tyre. The only thing i have never been too sure about is the tread pattern - i love the fact its a very unique tread pattern but it makes the tyre look slightly narrower, when looking from behind the car, than say a PS2 et all etc. You either love the tread pattern or hate it - its one of those!! But overall, i think its probably THE best tyre on the market in terms of bang for buck - its a very competent performance tyre for the road and is amazing value for money. GET 'EM ON KIDDO!!!!

Your probably right, this place is quite literally an ice rink in the wet. Im not 100%, but I think the UK has some kind of gritted surface to the white painted sections placed on roads... not over here, nice and shiny. I'd be inclined to take everyone else's opinions here, as I've no experience with any different tyres on the e92.

What I do know is I need more grip full stop. The power overwhealms the rear's far too easy on the exit of corners, mostly due to the lack of LSD. I was having a bit of fun with some model of new Seat (not sure which, never saw the back of him) this weekend in the hills of Alhaurin, couldn't shake him on the corners at that really annoyed me. Next mods will be grip, handling and braking products that's for certain.

Sorry, bit OT there. Go get them, if just for the tread pattern... they're groooovy.

Ahh, but did you let anyone on here know you got them in 2007, huh, eh!!??
But i do agree with Kin - we should probably not keep going on about them otherwise they'll soon cost them same as PS2's!!!

Thanks,

Its down to these or F1 Asyms. Had those before and they were superb as well, top grip in the weat. But F1s are going up in price each week and the Sessanta are quite a bit cheaper.

Now I just new a new job (hopefully the phone call will come tomorrow about that!!)

EDIT: just looked on Camskill and the Sessanat and F1 Asyms are the same price (bar £5 on the 255/35s)... hmmmm!
