That being said, I personally really enjoy having the navi. Really quick and so convenient sending addresses through BMW remote/google maps.
The thing is, media management is really much easier with the nav screen. id hate to move through 60 gigs of music on a flash drive with that tiny red screen.

because integration with the rest of the car is better and, because I can't add functionality with an aftermarket head unit.

I think iDrive is a must. I just wish this car already had it. The thing would be perfect!

I'm not a fan of how it makes the dash look with the double hump, but to me it was worth it. If I had to do it again I would get the nav again.
Me too. Love it in 09+, waste of space previous MY's.

I personally don't have it but the 09 idrive and up is great.

If I could do it again, I would get the idrive.

Even if you dont use it, it looks much better IMO and the resale of the car is alot easier with the navi option.

only advantage of non-idrive vs idrive is that non-idrive people get the additional storage space where the idrive knob goes.

This i did not know about until i read it here. This is indeed the way to go with this nav system, then. Use iPhone app to search for destination, then send to car. That's exactly what i need.

I am lost without my nav. Seriously. I cannot even find my way out of a wet paper bag without it.
Thanks a lot BMW!

Me too and I love that you can program the memory buttons to addresses. So I have one button set for home one for work etc. So if I decide to take a detour or something and get lost (which I do all the time) I just push a button and it gets me back on track.

I find the double hump dashboard to be hideous.

I just like the feel of the plain and simple dash.

As for the nav, there are plenty of substitutes.

I dont have nav and dont miss it, I only need nav on a rare occasion and the Garmin works fine when I need it stuck to the windshield. As far as bluetooth, I much prefer the privacy and superior audio of an ear piece.

The 09+ is much better from what I've played with. I never get nav in my cars though - I hate a screen always being on and in my face. I have the amazing Garmin Nuvi 3790t for when I do need help but I try my best to study maps before traveling and try to know where I'm going - then I'll proceed to figure the rest out, it's like an adventure! .. and keeps you sharp

Does GPS make you stupider?

Can e90 post share its opinions on the Nav system? Both for nav use and for audio use? I really like the car and might be willing to sacrifice the nav features for the car but, I'd like to see what other people this of this before I spend the money.

Thanks guys.
I drive about 20,000 miles/year and see absolutely no value/need/desire for Nav. I don't get it. Lots of people do though. I think 09 had that brutal looking afterthought/hump on the dash to accomodate it too. Yikes.

If you all step back and think about it, take a look at every single car that has a factory Nav screen. Does it not look old and outdated after x amount of years? Every single one. And also most people don't even use Nav, they just buy it for the looks when new. These were reasons I didn't get it when I ordered my car from Germany.

It depends on personal preference...for me, I always opted out the nav because there's too much step just to change something. I'd rather focus my eyes on the road.

I have the same dilemna. I want Nav a LOT, but it is limiting my choices of e90 335i's to buy. I would live without it, but am wondering how bad I would be kicking myself for not getting it.
