Ian, Todd, Tim, myself, and a few others have now signed up. It would be great for a few of you that I have not contacted join as well. I would really like to get heavily involved with BMW CCA and try to help organize drivers education events down here. I've organized meets and stuff before, so hopefully I can take it to the next level and get the ball rolling.

Are we looking to start a BR sub chapter?

My only hesitation in joining so far was the fact I'd have to travel to NO/Metarie for all of the meets which will be problematic if I go to bed late the night before a meet then have to tackle an hour drive just to hang out... Plus I don't think the current chapter does anything at NOLA or Circuit Grand Bayou as far as I've seen...

so what is the biggest benefit of join honestly? I was reading the benefits on their website, and it basically the same thing I have with AAA except a magazine, and access to a forum. Not trying to be a downer of any sort but I am curious.

The Roundel is a good magazine and you get parts discount at Brian Harris

This. I've been a member for 15 yrs & haven't done a single event with them but we're talking $3-4/month for a good magazine & discounts at dealers(as well as some other perks). When I bought my car I got a check from them for either $500 or $1000(can't remember)....that's worth it right there! I was hoping since NOLA was up & running they'd start to do more track stuff, we'll see!

That would be nice, but im not sure how we would go about doing that. You're right, they DONT do anything right now. That is the exact reason why we all need to join. They clearly just dont have enough people who want to track their cars, but if we all become members and gain a few positions on the board, it is very likely that we can start something up. They have a lot of organized drives right now, we just really need to get some DE's going on @ NOLA and CGB. If we all show up at the next meeting (plus the guys on BF.C thaat just joined), there will surely be some changes in their calendar. All the plans are voted on, and thats what we need, votes. Change doesn't come without action.

I know it will happen if we get a good group of guys to join. PCA is extremely active down here when it comes to track events, BMW CCA has to potential to be just as active.

Well maybe we can get a group drive to the next event/meeting. It will be fun no matter what if everyone goes.

Was a member, till I forgot to renew. When I get back, I'll join and help with the push for some DEs and group drives. There are plenty of good roads in the LA/MS region. We might as well take advantage.

They had a drive up to Red Bluff a month or two ago, but I couldn't make it. Last year there was a meeting at NOLA motorsports, and we got to go on some parade laps. Had 15 or so cars from a 3.0CSL to a 1M. I'd be interested in doing some more driving events if I can make the time. Looking on the website, they have a couple events planned over the next few months.

That's funny cause when I bought my '95 325is back in August of '95 from Benson BMW(before it became Peake) they were the ones that signed me up for the club

From what it looks like there are going to be some very fine, and very fine vintage automobiles here.

It is FREE to enter the car show. Class winners will receive engraved rewards if they win. All areas will be highly secured, and there will be numerous sponsors.
