Hose Pipe Reels

Hi Guys,

Just wondering what hose reels you have/recommend, I'm sick of them breaking or just being awkward to tidy away!

Any suggestions will be welcomed!

Cheers, Cal

I've got one of these:

http://www.tesco.com/direct/hozelock...e/423-3841.prd

Good points:

Protects the hosepipe from frost in the winter, making it more likely to work when required.

Reeling up system means the hose doesn't get stowed all tangled - even if the hose is a bit knotted up as you're reeling it in, it sorts it out without intervention most of the time.

Easy to wheel around.

Hose end has the bracket to keep it stored.

Bad points

As you unreel the hose, the cart obviously gets lighter, so sometimes it moves as you're pulling the other end (usually get round this by placing it against a wall or something).

It is a bit bulky, so can't really be hidden away.

Yeh, Hozelock is what I use. Plenty of adapters should you need them and very robust.

I have one of these: http://************/oy7o8uw

They're not cheap, although I didn't pay quite that much, but they work very well - I had a slightly smaller version which I passed onto my daughter, it's been going strong for at least 7 years without a problem so they last well too!

edit

Why on earth does the forum strip out Tiny_Urls? it doesn't even allow the word as it comes out like *******

Had one of those in the past and wasn't a fan until i've just bought a new one from aldi! The hoselock one was much better than the aldi one, just had some issues with connecters not locking in properly and got frustrated with it.

Expensive but with 180 degree swivel and auto reel it tidy's it's self away with no effort and is sturdy. My only issue was the wall plugs they supplied required upgrading which isn't an issue as with most people I have 100's about

Might be an idea if post a list of what you have had/tried and don't like, then people (like me) won't waste time writing out a load of stuff for no reason.

Hozelock is crap IMO.

I bought a Claber Kiro reel kit off Amazon.
It's 30m and only £30 and the quality of the hose, fittings and reel are mile better than the hozelock equivalent.

I don't think 7 yrs plus regular use, and still going strong after being left outside 24/7/365 demonstrates "crap" quality, I'd certainly buy another ..... Oh, I just did, doh! :-)

I've got one of those too. I bought it before I bought the proper hose reel as it's less hassle to get out and use.

It's a 50ft one and I got it off eBay for about £15-20 from what I remember. I've had it about a year and so far it's split at the end once (I just just the split bit off and re-attached the end. It's always leaked at the fittings but I would put that down to being a very cheap copy of the proper one.

The only issue with them is you can't leave them under pressure. When I used mine for car washing, I had to keep going back to the tap and turning it on and off which was a pain.

Sorry mate, didn't know what model or brand it was, we'd had it for years.
