Sad Supercar Experience
I reminder to treat these supercar experiences with respect. Obviously don't know anything about the incident, or what caused the crash, but sad nether the less.
http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereven...day-treat-dies Funny thing is this airfield is about 2 miles away from my house and didn't realise they did these experiences (and can't find anything online either). LARGE EDIT - just read this atricle properly (different from the one I read earlier) and realise it was his own car and somehow arranged to use the airfield to test its capabilities off the public roads.

True, different articles add confusion, hiring a Lambo for a whole weekend wouldn't be cheap, but certainly do-able if you're willing to part with the cash. It states 'took delivery' which could imply it was his or just hired. I think he probably hired it.

Tragic, but a pretty stupid act. His son's 21st birthday will be remembered throughout his whole life for all the wrong reasons now!
Can 100% understand why someone would want to hire a supercar and see how fast it goes, but just becuase it can do 200mph doesn't mean it's safe.

Let's not jump on the fellas back.. He wa sensible enough to do it on a runway. People have done 200mph on roads.
It's tragic big time. That is truly awful. Was it windy at all yesterday? Did a tyre blow? The car looks pretty much intact. Apart from the roof.. Wondered why it deviated off course? No way was it doing 200mph when it went off... It was on its way but if the car was actually travelling 200mph when it went off it wouldn't look like it does... RIP. & I hope the boy makes a full recovery.

Sounds to me like he never applied the brakes in time, or broke hard enough and went into someones garden at the end of the runway.

Very sad story. Indeed he was sensible to drive fast on a runway. Just bad luck and no ones fault.

It's easy to out brake yourself on a runway. Due to how wide it's hard to judge distance..
Happened in 08 when 5 lads all 18 & 19 died in an M5 in the states. (RIP Josh & boys) They driver just completely misjudged it. Hit a bank at the end of the runway, flew several hundred feet into a tree. He was on a forum was I was on just hours before it happened.

Yea that's correct, which is why it's a bad idea to hire a supercar, take it to a runway and see how fast it goes!

Totally agree with Carl that we shouldn't jump on the fellas back, it doesn't sound like he was being an idiot as he had the sense to only try it somewhere that would be presumed safe.
I'm sure any of us that have went from driving any kind of regular family hatch/saloon to something high powered can testify that it takes a bit of time before you realise how easily and quickly you hit ridiculous speeds in some of these cars. It can easily catch anyone not used to it out. |
