Pre-2009 euro switch with newer chrome switch
I understand that the newer rear fog light switch (euro switch) with the chrome accented selector switch is much more expensive than the old one used before 2009. Well, the pre-2009 switch will work just fine in 2009 and 2010 cars, all you need to do is swap the chrome accented selector switch. To do this, simply remove the two contacts holding the round bezel surrounding the selector switch (one on top and one on bottom). Then, using even pressure, just pop the selector switch right off (there's no glue or anything holding it on, just pressure). Do the same for both switches. Swap the chrome switch for the older matte back switch and put both units back together. Install the pre-2009 unit with the newer chrome accented selector switch as other have described and you are good to go.
It is very simple and if you can get your hands on an older euro switch, you could have yourself a bit of money. Another note, 2010 models have two pins holding the vent in place, so it is a little more difficult to pop that piece off. Be careful.

Interesting, I assume you have done this on your car already? I was just gonna wait until next year when I am in Germany to get the newer switch with rear fog and aluminum selector.

Yep, did it in mine. I had a pre-2009 switch from my old car.
