Interest in 3.5" Single Pipe Titanium Exhaust for 335i?

Hey All,

I've been looking at exhaust solutions for a while now and have owned a few exhaust as well. There are a number of titanium exhausts out there but they are all dual 2.5" pipes. I love the design of the AMS exhaust and wonder how light that system could be if it were made in titanium. The HPF exhaust offers larger diameter piping but it has no mufflers and is tough for daily driving as a result.

So, is there any interest in a 3.5" single pipe exhaust similar in style to AMS and HPF made in full titanium? I'm researching options for this now but if there is enough interest I may invest some money to create a short run of these.

Specs would be
Full titanium w/ burnt blue tips as option
Options for quad tips
Titanium single muffler
3.5" single piping all the way back
Playing with idea of having hi-flow cats that drop in via flanges that can be swapped out with a solid pipe for track events

sounds awesome, especially the part about the cats, but for $3k or more (which they probably will be) I'm not sure it's worth it.

So wait...

Your exhaust would have to merge the two downpipes together, only to split up again at the back? Sounds like a waste of time.

Besides, a 3.5' pipe will flow LESS than dual 2.5" pipes.

The difference between flow is marginal with 3.5" being .2cubic inches less. Curious about weight difference.

Could go for 4" all the way through instead of 3.5". I chose 3.5" because it was larger than AMS which was rated good for at least 500hp if I remember correctly. The HPF exhaust is also 3.5"

It will way less than AMS and HPF which are already some of the lightest exhaust systems on the market

I don't know how else to address that except to only have 1 set of tailpipes and a fake section or a set of muffler tips that split off to the side but I'd think true exhaust tips would be much more desirable. Plus I dont think there wuld be any performance loss by doing that

800+whp has been made on 3". I am amused at people that think 3.5" isnt enough

a short run titanium exhaust might not be in everyone's price range. But if its reasonably priced I might be interested.

You could design the muffler as a single inlet / dual (or quad) outlet, a la E46 M3:

Imagine this design with a single inlet into the muffler and a dual/quad outlets straight out.

Was that on a single turbo setup with a single outlet?

I'm thinking the post downpipe merge into the 3" midpipe, plus the split into dual mufflers/outlets is where the restriction occurs, so increasing the diameter is to account for that. Still, I'm not convinced that's even necessary at current power levels (FBO + upgraded twins).

I'd be interested as well. Most people can't justify the price of Ti exhaust systems because similar gains and sound can be had from an SS system. But the real merit of Ti comes from the weight savings.

OP, as part of the spec list I'd also like to see:

Fully flanged
Drop-in HFC, resonator, or straight pipe options
Adjustable tips
More tip options (3.5 or 4" dual, larger 3.5" quad) <--just a "nice to have"
Tone developed with catless DPs in mind

For the price of something like this I would rather have the akrapovic titanium exhaust.
