1: uninstall tune
2: drive roughly 70 miles for monitors to reset
3: check monitors to be in the readiness state before inspection

EVAP is usually always last, it takes forever.

Pretty much what I tell my customers if we do any work on their vehicle that effects any emissions related monitors, drive it between 50-80 miles & you should be all set

Apparently sucks to live in Mass... my JB4 N54 335 went and passed NH state inspection no problems, on map 5 for that matter... Obviously no CEL on, but to my knowledge JB4 alone doesn't affect readiness monitors.... I have an OBD2 bluetooth adapter and the Torque app on an old android, and would occasionally check in on the readiness tests... everything always green as far as my memory serves.
Sorry i know a bit off topic from the OP's request- but wanted to share my experience. NH + JB4 + no CEL = pass. DPs, well that's a different story. Somebody should buy a DP fix and rent the damn thing to form members

I have never once had to do anything to get a sticker cobb and my tune stays installed no dp fix needed. I pass every year.

If I ever had issues I would just go to my buddy and get a sticker but in MA catless DPs & tunes are not a concern.

Where do you go for your sticker? I mean I am assuming all ODB machine readers for stickers are the same, but I want to make 100% sure when i go to BMW of Shrewsbury for my sticker that I will pass with catless DP, cobb tune, and DP fix.

Maybe I should just go to the gas station down the street instead? This will be my first time inspection with DPs at dealership.

one I never go to dealerships for a sticker...I just don't trust them. I just go the place around the corner from me at Christmas Motors. They have a small garage and do stickers.

My buddy does stickers and he confirmed one not active is fine. If MA changes this I will just buy the DP fix and uninstall after the sticker. Or more likely just go to him and save me the $. You can make your own DP fix for like $10 bucks.

Either way you are fine in MA now. I have never had a problem.

dealership is just always the easiest for stickers for me and it's the same price everywhere...little shops ALWAYS give me trouble for the littliest shit I swear...I have 35% tint...LEGAL in Mass, but for some reason the small places I go to don't like it and sometimes don't pass me...or they'll point out like a little thing like a light or license plate...one garage actually said I had aftermarket headlights and wouldn't pass me...I was dumbfounded I HAVE OEM LAMPS!...I've gone to dealerships with illegal tint and been passed before, idk maybe they give less a shit of passing people who shouldn't pass and the small shops care more because they could get in trouble?

I can literally see myself going to get a sticker at a gas station and them telling me my exhaust is too loud...I guess if you know someone it probably helps though

I was always worried of going to a dealership as I think they want your $ and are more likely to fail you on something a normal shop will not...that is just my mind set no proof.

That being said I've always gone to small garages and never had a problem. I know of one in Lowell that passed me with no reverse lights but they did tell em I had to fix my whipers and they were broken and on good faith could not give me a sticker They literally broke on the way there in the middle of a thunderstorm which was some of the scariest driving I have ever done. That would be my go to place if I was worried but again I can go see my friend wing and am good to go. I've gone to shops with a LOUD ass exhaust and never had a problem.

Get those downpipes installed you will be ok

I'm sure it can be hit or miss but you shouldn't need the DP fix either way...if you do for some odd reason remove it when you are done as it fucks with things.

it gives false values, so your car could adapt using incorrect parameters if it isn't running right but thinks it is

you're only supposed to use them to pass the test, that's why they have adjustments to disable them

I see...maybe I'm uneducated...

no DP fix = sensor always 'not ready' = doesn't fuck with things

DP fix = sensor always 'ready' = fucks with things

...seems like either way something would be fucked with no?

(btw sorry OP totally hijacked your thread, hope you found a DP fix)

no, because even with no fix you still have another set of sensors reading accurately. it knows your first pair is gone, so it relies on the second set.

with the fix, you're giving your car false information, which isn't good for it long term.

hope that clarifies it

Thanks, I guess...I just don't see the long term adverse effects of leaving the DP fix in...

Side question: if you can pass emissions with tune and without DP fix, why are some of the MA N55 guys screaming for a DP fix?

i always go to the dealer.. why deal with a crappy garage when you can hang in the wait area and enjoy free snacks for the same price?

they won't hassle you for anything unless you're obnoxious.. stupid loud exhaust, dark tint, insanely slammed. my car had 0 wheel gap and rubbed like crazy, full catless exhaust and still passed.

I'm with torg on this one..
lots of mis information here. read up on MA emissions/inspections and what you need to pass etc. Cobb/JB/DP Fix, they can all pass no problem IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING. It's not rocket science, MA lets you pass with one not-ready. As long as you have driven a complete drive cycle, don't have a CEL, aren't breaking the obvious visual violations, and have your flavor of tune/dp fix in place - you will pass.

you don't want to leave it in long term. I had it in for a few months, the car will slowly get slower and run richer. It will also burn more gas. I removed mine and cleared the memory. My next tanks of gas were a good increase in mileage AND the car didn't feel sluggish. You will eventually get a CEL also unless you have a tune (usually when there's huge variances in temperature).

side question: because they didn't buy a N54 to begin with. >=)

no dp fix- not ready still pass (MA might be changing this soon)

dp fix = TEMPORARY fix to PASS. remove so it doesn't fuck with things.. But why are you running Catless DP's with no tune??

Don't go to BMW shrewsbury to get the sticker...tried the other day. VRSF DP, JB4. They knew it immediately. Theres a gas station on rt 9 in southborough across from the CVS...he will pass you
