Does anyone on here know what parts are needed to mount the M3 air ducts on an e92 M3 rep bumper? Did a search and nothing really came up specific. I know some guys here did that conversion so I hope you guys chime in...

I couldn't get them to fit in the space in front of the wheel well liners on my e90. Hopefully you have better luck on your e92. They fit the bumper perfect, but simply didn't have enough room in front of the wheel well.... I kept trimming and trimming and before I knew it there was barely any duct left so I abandoned the project and just rock bare openings now.

Wow..that wasn't a very comforting post. Sorry it didn't work out for you. Ok so the part numbers you listed above coorelates to the diagram below.Do I need to buy the fasteners (parts 9-11) that are listed for these? and what are those other parts that are listed? Also how about the wheel well liners? Do I need special ones for these to work with ? There's gotta be someone with an e92 out there that did this conversion. I can't imagine I am the only one venturing to do this. Is there a DIY? **fingers crossed**

The M3 liners won't fit your fenders, so you don't need to use the mounting bracket on the duct. If you search the P/Ns on ecs tuning you will see pictures of the actual ducts.

I used 3M automotive double-sided tape to fuse the ducts to the bumper, and it was rock solid. There is a pretty general DIY on here that I found when I did my research, so keep searching.... It's buried in here somewhere.

I really wish I could have gotten it to work, but the e90 must be tighter in that area than the e92 - that's the only explaination I can think of to explain why I failed

That sucks cause that would look really good on your e90. You know..they do make black duct tape. No one would ever know...

So question.. how does the air duct fasten or connect to the bumper?

Also I did a diagram comparison on the m3 and the 328 and the part #s didn't match up but the diagrams were identical. ...hmmm

i will also be doing this in a couple of days and have yet to find some kind of guidance as to how to make the break ducts fit, so as of now I'm going in to this blind and from scratch.

and to make matters worse i see that once you decide to go this route you loose your fog lights for good as you have to cut the bracket off the bumper.


any insight would be grand

I did it myself at first, driver side was not too hard just have to keep trimming until it doesn't hit the fender liner. I followed the DIY which says bolt the pass. side duct to the oil cooler then trim the duct, I kept trimming but don't see any way the duct will line up to the bumper. So I took it to the body shop and they had to cut the oil cooler mount off the duct and glue it to the bumper with urethane. IMO that's the only way the duct will line up with the bumper perfectly. It still lines up with the oil cooler just isn't bolted on to it. I wouldn't do it myself again, just way too frustrating and time consuming lol

i agree with the first response about fitment on E90... i have a lot cut away from the ducts till i decided instead of making them brake ducts, i'm going to do some fiberglass work and make them into 3.25" Ram Air ducts and connect them to the OEM air box... project is in the works right now but haven't quite perfected the smoothness of the inside duct.

EDIT: i just used 2 aluminum (only aluminum, other materials will rust) screw/bolt on each duct and that worked for me.

I do on my E92. You just need to do a lot of trimming to make it work. Use double sided tape to hold the ducts to the bumper. Here are a few pics of my car....

Looks awesome..... the double sided tape will keep the ducts and the bumper together? Or did you secure them with something?

It's secure with double sided tape. It was annoying trimming the ducts, then fitting it, then trimming some more, then fitting the ducts, trim some more, etc....

The point I'm trying to make is that there's not much room to work with. So the ducts are secure against the bumper and plastic fender well liners. I've had the bumper for close to 4 months now. No issues.

So what do you guys do with the fog lights?
There should be a bulb out error on the dash if the fog lights are removed, right?
Do you guys live with it or just hide the bulb inside the bumper?

Taped them up with electrical tape and zip tied them to the frame.
