So are you saying the OP's first picture where your hand goes to shut the door just just pulls straight up and out? How did you do that?

Was 169 dollars. I removed the door panel to replace it. But on my e92 (08 335), I could have just pullled straight up on it and it would have come off. Just clips holding it in.

If I ever have to replace it again... I wont remove the entire door panel. I will just pull up on it till it releases.

Go to your dealer and they can order it for you. My car was black so they had it in stock. They actually had 6. Apparently they are replaced often.

yeah i'm trying to figure that out too... in my older cars there would be a screw inside that little nook where you put your fingers to pull the door closed. in the bmw, there are no screws or anything inside there so there must be some clips or something and you just have to pry it up/off.

i'd like to see if there is a diagram or something to show where to pull/pry.

I pulled off the aluminum trip... then pulled out the 4 screws and then pulled up on the leather armrest till it all poped straight up. Then disconnected and removed the window switches. Then replaced armrest by pushing it back down.

I just did this and have my old one in the garage. I am going to try and paint or wrap it and stick it in the closet for when my new one wears out too.

There were just clips that poped straight up on my armrest. I have a 2008 coupe.

I will snap a picture and post it.

Ok so you replaced the whole armrest and not just that black piece where your hand goes it how I understand what you're saying. Last I remember that black piece is secured to the armrest without clips or fasteners. It looked to me like the piece had some male features that passed through the armrest and then melted down flat to hold it to the armrest. So it would seem to not be a replaceable part and you would need to buy the whole armrest.

Nope. the black part is plastic welded to the part. You can remove the armrest and maybe drill out the plastic welds.. then reattach it afterwards. But doesnt look like it would ever really fit right again. Its dumb they didnt make that a replaceable part.

I got the pics.. I just need to slap them on a host.. or on my webserver at home. I will get them up in a bit and you can see. It was a quick easy swap of the old and new part. I could do it in less than 10 minutes next time.

Damn, so the whole armrest has to come out? Can it be taken off without pulling off the door panel?

Same with mine. BMW will probably make a killing if they sell a paint refresh program.

I wish I could get my door pull handle to stop squeaking when I pull on it! I'm gonna take it out and coat the connections inside with liquid rubber stuff or something.

PlastiDip works great. Texture is almost the same as OEM.

Got mine replaced under warranty along with the steering wheel trim. Now that its out of warranty I'd probably plasti-dip it or just sand/spray paint next time.

how is plastidip applied? I must investigate! I decided to remove all the rubberized (cheap in my opinion) on my inside door handle driver-side...

however my steering wheel area with same cheap coating is peeling as well... wondering if the plastidip would suffice....

Mine did the same and got the handle and steering wheel trim replaced under warranty.. Not sure if plastidip will hold up on the handle because it's a high-wear area..
