Actually, they had a bunch of these sitting in Halifax since late August. Some dealers will have 1 or 2 already delivered and ready for PDI. I saw the one I ordered over the weekend except its damaged during transit so I'm waiting for another one.

The car is pretty sweet. The carbon leather trim is definitely not what I was expecting (in a good way). I'm just worried I'll spill coffee on it from the cup holders and it would be a pain to remove.

There is also white stitching on the black leather which is a nice plus and contrary to what the spec sheet says, there are fog lights on it.

Only negative is, even with the 19" wheels, there is a big gap between the wheel and wheel well, seems bigger than the gap I have with my 18" with my current E90.

Interesting. I heard the deliveries around here were for Ruby color only. The fog lights means to me that this is a stage 1 power kit, and I was lead to believe it was a stage 2.

I asked the sales guy (i.e. take it with a grain of salt) why it had fog lights and he said the main intake vent under the license plate is bigger than the standard version so there was space left for the fog lights.

And since power is only increased to 320hp, it seems to be inline with the stage 1 kit.

Stage 2 kit has 320 as well, just additional hardware, at least thats what the release looks like:

The stage 1 and 2 Power Kits for the aforementioned models are fully covered under BMW of North America’s limited warranty and can be retrofitted at BMW centers or via the Port Installation Program.

The version 1 Power Kit, which is also available for X6 crossovers produced up to April of 2010, includes an engine software optimization that increases output by 20HP to 320-horses, and peak torque from 300 lb-ft to 332 lb-ft when equipped with an automatic transmission, and 317 lb-ft when fitted with a manual or DCT transmission.

According to BMW, with this kit, the 335i completes the 0-60mph (96km/h) sprint 0.2 seconds faster than the standard model. It is also 0.5 seconds faster in the 50mph to 75mph acceleration and offers what the company describes as an "“Exhaust burble” sound during engine overrun conditions.

The version 2 Power Kit includes the ECU upgrade plus an auxiliary water cooler and an enhanced radiator fan to reduce the higher thermal stresses on the engine during extreme driving, according to the automaker. It is available only on the 135i and 335i.

The South African Factory will be painting a large number of E90 Ruby Black during the first full week in October.
This will be one of the last runs of Individual colors before the South African production of E90 stops in December

Cant confirm yet if any will be going to Canada

My vin has an A so I understand that means it's built in Munich. My SA said it should be stage 2, but that a different bumper allows the air flow across the middle and not through the fog lights, so they DO have fog lights :s ( I prefer no fogs). He also confirmed white stitch.

Getting stoked. When mine arrives I'll have lots of pics

335i badge

Am I out of the loop? I thought it was only the 335xi getting the "special edition".

From the pic also looks like it says Stage 2 performance

I am awaiting my new 335xi special edition...

Since 2009, all 335i and 335xi have the same rear "335i" badge, they really are no longer called 335xi, but 335i xDrive and the badge for that is now on the front corner panel

Hey on the picture of the rear, do the tail-lights have a white section? (like pre 2009 models)

it almost looks that way but I think its wrapping or plastic over. I also had a second take looking at the cardboard in door!

It appears we'll get the same front and back bumpers as everyone else with the M pack.

The 313 look good on that, but I hope it is not gonna look THAT HIGH!!!

What are shipping blocks?

It's clear protection film and reflection from the sun. The car just actually came off freight and has not gone through its pre delivery inspection yet. That's why there are no tow hook covers, cardboard in the interior, and protection film all over the car

Bmw Canada did not say if it would have a "Special Edition" badge before the release. I believe it is only on the American car

Yeah they did. This is a copy/paste of the bmw canada memo the dealers received :

"With a starting price of only $57,200, the exciting MY2011 335i xDrive Special Edition includes nearly $13,000 in optional equipment for only $5,100. Not only will this edition appeal to the value-minded customer, the exclusive features such as Jerez Black Metallic Paint (M3 only), Carbon Leather Interior Trim (M3 only) and 19" Alloy Wheels - Style 313M (335is Coupe/Cab) are restricted to this edition and have never been offered on a 3 Series Sedan ever before. A "BMW Individual" badge will be affixed to the trunk lid to identify this special edition. By incorporating the port-installed Stage 2 Power Kit and BMW Performance Parts cat-back exhaust system, the 335i xDrive Special Edition appeals to the performance-oriented customer as well.

Please note that the 335i xDrive Special Edition will be equipped with the BMW Performance Parts Stage 2 Power Kit. This is not to be confused with the lesser Stage 1 Power Kit. The Stage 2 Power Kit includes additional parts for engine cooling, ensuring that the vehicle is fully prepared for on-track use.
The Stage 1 Power Kit includes:
DME Software Tuning, increasing output to 320hp and 332 lb-ft of torque (Automatic) / 317 lb-ft (Manual)
The Stage 2 Power Kit includes:
Stage 1 Power Kit
Additional water cooler (aluminum), including necessary plumbing
Higher output electric fan, including necessary electronics & wiring
Air Ducts in front fascia (replacing fog lights)
With the Stage 2 Power Kit, the 335i xDrive Special Edition now has more torque than any competitor in its segment. Underscoring BMW EfficientDynamics technologies, the 335i xDrive Special Edition represents a significant fuel savings over core competitors. Based on average consumption, the 335i xDrive Special Edition Sedan can save customers $30-$40/month in fuel over key competitors. Further building value is standard BMW Assist with 1-year Safety and Security subscription. This feature is simply not available on any competitive vehicles with the exception of Mercedes’ TeleAid option ($1,200). BMW also leads the industry with a 12-month Sirius Satellite Radio Subscription while others only include up to a 3-month trial. For peace-of-mind, BMW also offers 4-year/80k no-charge scheduled maintenance. A feature not rivaled by any competitor.
The outstanding value, combined with the exclusive and performance-oriented character of the 335i xDrive Sedan is what makes the 3 Series Sedan the benchmark for all other sedans in the market. Retailer demand has far exceeded the factory capacity of 250 units and retail allocations have been distributed accordingly. Furthermore, due to plant capacity, Jerez Black (normally reserved for M3 only) production is extended from the originally communicated July/August production time frame, with some units planned for September/October production. All Ruby Black Metallic production can be accommodated in July/August as originally communicated. Since the Power Kit and Exhaust Systems are installed at Autoport, please allow an additional two-week lead-time for delivery to your retail facility.
The Optional Equipment Sheet is attached. Pricing will be available in ONE-EIGHTY and Reynolds & Reynolds systems as of July 14th, 2011. Residual values and rates will be announced under separate cover.
Best regards,
Jeremy Chiu
Product Planning Manager "
