Hi Guys,

I have recently had CIC Retrofitted and the GPS reception is pretty hit and miss and hate having the ugly looking GPS aerial on the dash.

My question is how can i tell if the shark fin aerial on the roof has the GPS as well.

I have factory bluetooth and a telephone mount in the armrest.

Any help will be appreciated.

Im hoping i can buy a 5 meter GPS cable and plug it in.

Sure shot fire way is to check the trunk for the fakra connections under the flooring. The pink one is for GPS...

Blue is gps. It will be in the trunk. Under the carpet cover.

This is true. Pink is what I'll be using for sat radio. Misconception got me of my own project. :-).

Yeah from non iDrive to CIC

Turns out I just had the GSM connection in the shark fin, so I've ordered a GPS version from BMW

Did you take any pics of the install? How hard would you rate it to do? Also, do you have a parts list? I see some on here but some say you need this and that, while others don't even mention specific things..

Ive not installed the aerial yet

This is the part i purchased from BMW 65206929347

Just waiting on the GPS extension lead, 3m tape, nylon fishing line to get the shark fin off without marking the roof.

Did you buy this from bimmerretrofit, or did you piece together the entire retro yourself?? I'm beginning to do this now and just looking for help in all places haha..

No i was lazy and paid for someone to supply and fit everything, haha.

The only things i supplied was the centre console trim, double scoop and now the GPS Shark fin, which i brought new from BMW.

Good luck with yours you won't be disappointed, is the best thing I've done to date, and I've done a lot.

Haha do you have any before and after pictures of the dashboard install? I assume it'll be the coolest thing to add on to my car since my car has every option except nav, so I feel it would just be completed lol.. Many say don't even do it because it's a mission, but if I pieced together what I needed and did it over time I don't imagine it to be as bad as they claim..

OP. What year is your car? Your in USA? Im suprised you didnt have the gps antenna lead in the trunk.

I know some people just use the ariel gps antenna and tuck it under the dash and they say it works good.

If you piece everything together and get parts as they come up for sale to get good deals, its not bad at all. Pm me if you have any questions.

Thanks brother! I actually found a black/tan dash for $250 but am a bit hesitant since my interior is black/black and my car is black.. Someone mentioned a leather dye that should fix the tan part, but I think I just may get it because it's only $250 anyways haha..!!
