Shifting mechanism Problem HELP!!
Hey guys, I attached a link to a video on youtube where I show the problem with my shifting mechanism.
When going into 2nd and 4th gear, for it to actually engage it has to be pulled further than usual backwards, and it actually goes up. This started today when I was pulling into my neighborhood. I was on first gear after stopping at a stop sign and when i tried to get second gear in, it felt like the stick shit slipped. Thanks for the help. Pull the rubber boot up to expose the shifter linkage. Check part #7 on the below link. The shifter's pivot ball fits inside #7 and holds it in place. They wear out over time. To remove, take a flathead screwdriver and rotate it (pretty sure it goes clockwise to remove, counter clockwise to lock in place. It's been a while since I've done one). Youll also need to remove the #10 clip so the shifter will come out. Once its out, remove #7 and pop the new one on and put it all back together.

/thread. Although I think when you're installing it you don't turn it you just push it straight in and it should click. Look for the DIY and it shows you how to line it up. It's a 20 minute fix good luck.

Can this be done from the top of the car? or do I have to get the exahust system and the heat shields out of the way to acces it from the bottom? |

I've always had to go in from underneath.

Any time. Glad you got it fixed. Were you able to do it from up top or did you have to go in from underneath?
