Yes, item 13 on my US 328ix fits perfectly with the Euro lid
Actually the price of around $360 that ECS tuning is charging for all the items included is cheap considering it includes the MAF sensor - looked up the MAF Sensor alone and it goes for $308.22 by itself So I don't know how they can only charge what they are charging (not complaining mind you)

This is the best deal out there!
ECS #2072577 BMW #1371552437 N52 Euro Air Box $369.95 (no air filter) ECS #2072578 BMW #1371552447 N52 Euro Air Box Kit $391.58 (includes stock paper air filter) I bought the $369.95 one with no air filter and from e-bay bought a K+N E-2022 for $47. So the BEST deal is that I did receive the stock paper air filter ($25 value) and the mass air sensor ($300 value). Do the math. Sell the filter for $20 and the MAS for $200 and the EURO box is only $150 + $50 for the K+N filter. Now on EAS they have a E9x carbon fiber upper air snorkel for only $99.00. |

COMMENT/REPLY: I just installed mine from ECS, and I used my olod MAF sensor - the new one only has two pins in the connector and the old one four. So, I bet you'll get some error code if you use the new sensor.... |

I'm still happy with the price of the box even without the mass air sensor.
This is far cleaner than the carbon delete on the stock box and will flow better. |

Not really. Coolness factor of Euro parts. It seemed to improve response and sound combined with the K&N E2022. I picked mine up while in Germany so I paid for mine in Euro (250ish Euro) and I couldn't be happier.

It should be noted that the US version BMW performance intake not only has a larger air intake duct, but also an extra air duct at the back end of the top cover, my guess it is to reduce back pressure, but just a guess.
Having said that, if one can get the euro box for $350, I think it is a good way to add some sound and a little gain, it is also easier to maintain. Last edited by dtc100; 11-08-2010 at 12:06 PM.. |

Just installed the Euro box + K&N E-2022 about 2 hrs. ago and definitely felt a difference in my 330 coming from bone stock. There is a bit more engine noise, especially at idle and higher rpms. Car seems to deliver power a bit quicker and more smoothly, though this could be just because it's nice and cool outside
Biggest improvement--since I bought my car 5 months ago, the idle wasn't stable. Nothing crazy and no CELs, but I wasn't satisfied that it wasn't perfect. The one time I was at BMW (not under warranty), they said this was normal and nothing to worry about. Needle hesitated in park, neutral, drive, cold or warm engine (tried removing all possible A/C drains as well, recently replaced spark plugs). I thought I needed to have my engine checked for timing, etc. After installing the intake, the engine now idles at 580-600 rpm, completely stable! Absolutely no hesitation, even if I blast AC/heat. I think I'm just more relieved that it wasn't a more serious issue... On another note, I went from completely stock, so a carbon delete and/or K&N drop in could have cured the hesitation as well. I bought my intake here http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWNX:IT , got a bit lucky that I had a friend fly to England within a week of the listing. Not sure I would have dished out the $$$ ECS charges... ...can't wait to hear my car once the BMW Perf. muffler I have sitting here is welded on! Last edited by yakev724; 12-10-2010 at 10:09 PM.. |

Great to hear you got it installed and all is working fine Did you end up deleting the silencer or leaving it in?

Left it in, like u said, I'm not too crazy about doing something which has little benefit but substantial risk.

There is no silencer on the Euro Airbox - it's part of the factory intake tube (Item #10 in diagram) that attaches directly to the airbox and leads back to the throttle body.
You can see a box like thingy hanging below the intake tube right behind where it attaches to the outlet of the airbox.

Wish I had known about the possibility of this before wasting money on a crappy Afe intake and an Injen intake. Although I did love having the Injen on the car, the dealer gave me too much crap for it. If no one has done this or at LEAST done a carbon filter delete, then I would. The carbon filter delete takes like 15 minutes and is super easy. It will make your car pull much smoother in any sort of driving. Before you do that, why not get some maf sensor cleaner and use that while you have the maf sensor out and benefit even more.

I just did this conversion earlier this week and it went smoothly without a hitch. I purchased the euro box from another member on the forum in Hong Kong. I must say there is a noticeable pickup when I step on the accelerator. I can feel the engine and the car responding much better after installing the euro box.
