Battery/ Alternator query

Hi guys,
Had a little search but can't find much linking to my problem,

The problem I have is an amber battery light coming up on the dash 3 weeks ago, it appeared every day for 3 days then disappeared.

2 weeks later and my car throws a fault something along the lines of battery discharge high, this reset my odometer and time/ date etc,

So today I thought I'll check alternator and battery for their conditions,
At idle I have 15/15.2 vaults at both alternator and battery and when the engine is off I have 12.6 vaults, which I thought to be high at idle?

So my question is do I have a faulty voltage regulator overcharging my battery and knackering it?
Do I have a completely faulty alternator?
Or are the readings fine and it is my battery simply losing charge quickly?

Note that at no stage did the car refuse to start.
Any help is appreciated before I splash out on the wrong part,
Thanks guys
Chris.

Thanks mate I'll look into it!
Noticed yesterday I turned the car off and left the radio on for 45 seconds and it said battery charge very low would this not point to a faulty battery instead of alternator?

I would suggest that you check out the battery as its not only cheaper to do than checking the alternator it is also quicker.

Bought a new battery for it to try, seems I have sorted it although it's not a start stop battery and is now throwing up faults!
I'll see if I can clear it all by disabling start stop when I learn how to code that feature if not I'll be buying another battery
