Quick question - Does Ivo also do paint jobs?
I got a small damage (smaller than a penny) on my bumper that requires filling and a paint job. If Ivo doesn't do it, I would appreciate any recommendation (have some idea from searching earlier)! |

I know there has already been quite a bit of praise thrown in Ivo's direction but yesterday was my first experience and I was soo impressed that I felt the need to break my forum silence to provide an update for the benefit of other local forum members.
As mentioned above I was in yesterday for the intake carbon cleaning service. The work on my vehicle was performed by his apprentice (name was Johnathon) which gave me plenty of time to speak with Ivo to bounce some questions off him to see what he was all about. Was a great guy to shoot the shit with, it was obvious he was passionate about what he did. While talking with him I was also poking my head in and out of my engine bay while talking to his apprentice about the process in general and his experience on these vehicles. Needless to say I think the word is out that this was the place to come for 335 work around the GTA area because they have seen a ton of us. I found the reasonable prices, quality of workmanship, and confidence they instilled in me while talking to them and witnessing their work far outweighed the 2.5hr round trip commute I had to contend with (I live in Niagara Falls). If you care about your baby as much as I do this is the place you need to bring it. In terms of the carbon cleaning service itself the visual difference looking at the valves was night and day and behind the wheel it was clearly ALOT smoother at low speeds in 1st and 2nd (parking lot driving). Before the cleaning I found the car to be quite jumpy at low speeds and difficult to drive smoothly. At WOT the difference was less noticeable or perhaps I just don't WOT the car enough to have a good base feel. I took a quick log on the way home when I had some free road using my Cobb AP and plotted it against a pull from earlier this year using Virtual Dyno. It did show a rather significant improvement but I am taking it with a grain of salt given the difference in terrain and ambient temperatures between the two logs. Anyways just wanted to share my experience... |

I can also post nothing but praise for Ivo after my first experience with him this past week.
I went in to see him last Friday to have my car diagnosed, and found that he was off. Jonathan was more than happy to assist me in his absence. I was initially hesitant that it was not Ivo himself, but Jonathan quickly proved that he knew what he was doing/talking about. He plugged in the scanner and found no codes, so he advised me to do the carbon cleaning on my car (as I was experiencing the same symptoms as the poster above me and was worried it may have been an ignition coil causing a misfire). Jonathan did not charge me for this diagnosis, and I booked in an appointment to come see them again a week later to have the work done. Later that same day, while driving home, I had a water-pump failure out of nowhere. I limped the car home and phoned Ivo the next day. He was very accomodating in helping me get the car booked in with him as soon as possible, and I had the car towed down on Tuesday (after the long weekend). Ivo checked it out as soon as it arrived and confirmed it was indeed the water-pump. Even though he was booked solid the next day, and Jonathan had called in sick leaving him alone in the shop, Ivo still managed to have all the work done less than 40 hours later, and I happily picked up my baby and drove her home. WOW did that carbon-clean make a noticeable improvement! The jumpiness, unstable idle, and hesitation at WOT are all completely gone; the car drives as it did when I first bought it over 50k ago! Ivo and Jonathan are both honest, straight-up dudes who know what they're doing, and I am over-all very happy with the experience, with my only minor complaint being that, upon receiving my car back, there are a couple of small dirt marks on my light-gray a-pillar fabric that were not there before. Otherwise, I am very satisfied and will be returning to him again in the future. Can't recommend enough. I have been to Bimmex, RMP, and a couple of different BMW dealerships, and this is easily the best over-all experience I've had so far under my ownership of this car.

Same crappier pickup feeling in first few gears...you've sold me on getting an overdue carbon cleaning from Ivo before the snow hits! Good to hear the apprentice is just as good, because I was wondering that when I first visited the garage.

Going in next week for a full suspension swap with Koni Yellows and Eibach pro-kit. M3 Front control arms, new tie-rods, end-links, suspension bushings and sway bushing to top it off as a while I am in there service. Either way at 165,000 kms it was very well due. I am convinced that the uneven concrete highway that is the 407 is responsible for the very fast deterioration of my factory sport units. Either way my suspension is in rough shape and I can't wait to get this hardware installed!

I was there yesterday and met another forum member who was getting some major work done on his car. Ivo had a guy there who spoke the same ethnic language as him. Not sure if that's the Jonathan guy or not.

If you are replacing the oil filter gasket where the intake manifold has to be removed you might as well get Ivo to clean your intake ports. With 142k its about time

Was there today and saw a black 330 xi being dropped off a flat bed. Looked like a driveshaft issue.
