Remote start in 06 330i-Installation problems-Advice please

Hi,

I took my 06 330i w/ premium package in yesterday to have a remote start installed. The installer had one problem that he could not figure out.

I have to permanently keep a key in the car and the only way to make it work is to have the key-fob directly next to the start button in the car...and that means that the car would always just turn on and could easily be stolen.

The interface module is the KIBMW BMW Key Interface Module, and the remote start is the Python Responder One.

Any advice would be appreciated. Oh, and the installer is very experienced, and I do not believe it is a lack of competence on his part.

Do you have Comfort Access?

And is the product being installed by an authorized Directed dealer?

No comfort access. I am not sure. Originally wanted to go with Audio Express but they did not know how to do it. Went with Ultimate Electronics b/c the guy was experienced and was able to tell me what adapters to get.

I asked around and was told that if I installed this it would probably solve the problem.

If you do not have Comfort Access, you do NOT need to leave a key in the vehicle (powered or not) and your installer is doing it wrong.

Do NOT buy an 1101T. Wrong application. Not sure who you're asking...

Audio Express are a bunch of hacks, letting them work on your BMW is like Johnny Knoxville doing Jessica Simpson - somebody gets screwed, but nothing gets done right.

Ultimate isn't much better. There are custom shops in Vegas, why are you going to supermarkets?

Look, if that thing were installed right (and I know dealers who have), it's a slick install in an E90. You're just doing it wrong. Go to a specialist, buy the gear from the specialist, and stop trying to save a nickel and getting crappy work.

Well, do you have a name or a way to search for these places?

Is there an install guide out there or something?

The only places I know are best buy (hell no), ultimate electronics, audio express, and auto solutions. I actually talked to a lot of installers about this and went with the one that I felt the most comfortable with. Actually had several people recommend him.

I know a guy, I'm calling him to see if he is willing to take a look (repairs and reinstalls are more painful than clean installs, and many guys don't like to do them if they can avoid it).

Googling Las Vegas car stereo gives me a number of hits... I kind of like Action (sicktrucks.com) and would talk to them too.

If you already paid Ultimate, make them get it right - BUT if you read the paperwork for the DLPK and the KIBMW it will explain some things that you seem to have had explained to you incorrectly.

Not going with A/E was a good call - that $1.00 install isn't worth 99 cents... and as far as Ultimate goes, they're a chain store. You need a craftsman whose pride in his work makes him do it well, and they are rarely working for corporations.

You picked the right gear, you just need to get them to make it work properly. If the installer needs it, I can put him in touch with a shop on the East Coast who does the same setup you bought for the BMW dealer across the road.
