Hi Haribo.

Sorry for the late reply.

I sourced the lights from a fellow forum member. Drop me a PM if you want his number.

I thought I'd update this topic with a couple of pics of the car post change and also a little before-during-after. Let me know what you think.

To confirm...

I bought a set of LCI Halogen lights first of all..
The rationale for the halogen units was cost. I LOVE the look of the LCI lights and lci xenons are about 1k rather than 300 odd for halogens. Furthermore, finding OEM ballasts /bulbs used is another matter. BMW want about 300 just for a set of ballasts/bulbs. Daylight robbery

So I picked up the lights and bought an HID kit. Furthermore it gives my car a pretty unique look. It actually worked far better than I originally expected it would given the lack of projectors... and so far no one has flashed me so they can't be too dazzly.. (is that a word? )

I then ordered some LED angel eye markers as well as a 6000k xenon kit and the Lamin-X treatment from the boys George/Kav.

So I've got lights from an 09 car now but pimped up with the KG therapy

Before:

During:

(WHAT a view.. Cheers Kav. And for what it's worth the only thing better than the view was the smells he was kicking out from time to time lol worse than simba!! Although Simba was doing his best to gas us out of the car port as well hah.. )

and after

I hope you approve guys!

The lights are 10x better than before in terms of output, are completely error free (As too is the key to lock/unlock. They come on and off when I activate the comfort circuit. Love it ) and look the biz. I'm very happy.

I put a vid of that up on here before...

Mega.
ps apols for iPhone pics it's all I've got with me atm..

Love how you have tapped into the comfort circuit! I want to do that with my halos and fogs, more as some places I park I cannot see in front of the car (when at camp sites or dark places).

I wouldn't do it with fogs... Just personal preference though that.

If you want it done my mate will do it for you. He's based in Surrey so not too far away from you..

great job mega, not sure why you had to tap into the comfort circuit tho - my upgraded halos come on the same as yours if I leave the lights in the auto lights setting, is yours different then ?

ive also struggled with what to do with the H7s and have gone through several different bulbs with no joy, anyone got a suggestion ? I dont want to pay the hundreds of quid for hids, but £20 or £30 on white light h7's are what im looking for..??

Not hundreds. Hundred. That's all my set cost. Osram nightbreakers are about the best you'll get from Halogens though.

That's a mod I really do like - nice work!

If I tried to do that, I'd blow the car up.

So, if I buy a set of LCI Halogens do they come standard with 'Angel Eyes' and if they do, can I then upgrade the bulbs to LED's? Or do the LED's only fit into the Xenon lights?

Fooking confusing all this!

Cyprio they come with angels (LCI lights) you just need to buy the correct LED ring markers to make them super bright.

You aren't replacing the angel itself, you are just upgrading the "LED marker" that fills it with light.

I actually bought a xenon style LED marker by mistake but we just modified it to fit The light unit's clip wasn't affected at all. The only difference was the connector - so we had to cut the connector from the stock marker and use that. Nice to have a guy that understands wiring helping me out.

If you buy a LED ring marker for an LCI halogen light then it will all be plug and play.

So in closing:

LCI halogen front headlights+ LCI halogen LED ring marker = angel eyes with bright white light on a pre-LCI halogen E90.

Hope that helps.

SSDD and neil@JuicedUpTuning both sell the correct ring marker

Newer cars do, its called 'welcome lights' on the idrive (in addition to follow me home' lights) , i think it needs auto lights too so the lights only come on when its dark.

Mine lights up like a christmas tree when unlocking.

Yeah I don't have that then!

Puddle lights / interior lights come on but there's no option for welcome lights (just follow me home)

So we found a solution anyway

No offence Mega but you could have activated halo rings with little bit of coding.
I dont know why you had to go for old physical way.
Does that means, each time you turn on halo rings (wired to side lights) your footwell lights were on too.

Also no offence, but xenon in halogen reflector looks cheap IMO.

I am gald you changed your car....as new one is sexier than this car.

No it didn't mean footwell was on lmao that would be ridiculous

But the early E90 it could not be coded on from my knowledge. If I'm wrong then who cares. This method was free and was equally as effective so I have no regrets

I'm not sure why you come to complain about a mod I did 1 year ago on a car I changed 7 months ago but anyway

Ken

The bulb markers came from SSDD Motorsport.

The xenon kit if you are interested is just the same as any other car frankly - only consideration is sometimes the car can think a bulb is out as it's not coded to wait for ballasts.. and it throws voltage check.

To be honest I'd rather say get some aftermarket xenon light units with washers and self levelling, or else just accept it and stick with the halogen. xenons are now MOT fail in halogen housing. from this year. When I did this mod, this was not the case.

Looks good just watch out MOT time as the new rules could cause it to fail. They are suppose to be checking for non OEM xenons and lack of leveling/ washers.

Saying that my BClass just passed this morning though I have projector lenses with xenons kit and not halogen projectors.
