Hey, new to the BMW world. Making my first legit post on this forum haha. Just picked up a BMW 335i about 2 weeks ago. Been loving it, doesn't compare to the Subaru. The BMW is in a whole different league !

Nothing special done to it, bone stock, but i did the exhaust accelerator mod or whatever it's called & tints.

Do you guys rock the e90 post stickers on your rides? I know for Subaru I used to have the TSC sticker to let other members know were part of the same forums.

& Just a random picture

I know these aren't e90s, but my buddy and I (and our GFs) went cruising to Forks this past weekend and my GF took some rolling shots of our cars that I thought I'd share (images resized to not make people's eyes bleed);

eh, anybody know a place in the g.t.a that sells the METRA 70-9003?

i'd just buy it off ebay but most of these are coming up to $25 or more, figured i just buy it in person.

Another newbie!

Hi guys,
Just purchased a 2009 335d. This will be my first BMW.
Is there a preferred "Diesel" BMW dealer in the GTA? The car is a CPO, nothing wrong yet, but I like to be prepared. I live in Ajax, but I'm not sure I trust Endras with a diesel.

TIA
Lino

Good luck. Many of them are clueless when it comes to diesels. I know a great BMW tech who works on the side. I've had great experience on my 335d at Parkview BMW. So so at BMW Toronto.

How many clicks on yours? You should post on the diesel side of the forums. Lots of great knowledge over there.

Hmm. I expected that to be honest. Not too many BMW techs are familiar with diesels. I guess it is knew to them here in NA. But I was hoping.
I read all these horror stories about cars in the shop for days, heads being replaced, etc. a lot of them misdiagnosed in the first place. I think a lot of it could be avoided if they knew what they were doing. Not only does it hurt us the customer but also BMW, both in costs and reputation. Frankly I don't understand why BMW doesn't step in and force the dealers to properly train their techs before they can sell diesels.

My car has 81k kilometers. It is a BC car. I had shipped. It should be here next week, I have not seen it yet.

So, is there a diesel forum on this Canadian branch of e90post? How do I get to it?

Thank You
Lino

Hey Lino,

My buddy (BMW master tech) has said you're lucky if one guy at any given dealership is a diesel expert. BMW will usually train one guy on diesels and then hope his knowledge "trickles" down to the other techs.

As for the diesel forums, here is the link:

Thanks Greekboy.

A lot of good information there for sure, but also scary. Starting to think I bought the wrong car.

So do I need to have my car checked at a dealer to determine if all my recalls were done or would my selling dealer automatically do it as part of the CPO certification?

I'm going to Parkview on Friday. I have heard good things about them... and the fact you have to wait for an appointment.... it's actually a good thing. Need to worry when the stealership says "you can come in any time"... hmmmm.... why are they not busy? I won't go back to Ajax BMW because of their misrepresentation for CPO repairs and other 'non-technical' issues. Service advisers that forget you called, forget appointments, don't follow up, etc. Then on top of that the service manager telling me that when things are being repaired under warranty I cannot expect them to come back as good as new....... WTF?!? What is warranty for? What is repair for?

Sure hope all the chatter about Parkview being a good dealership is truth... anyone know a good service adviser to work with on CPO?? Ajax seems to defer the work and try to not service you.... BOOOOOO on that.

Hey Lino,

Yes I would check to see with them if the recall work has been done. They can pull the history on the car. I wouldn't worry about the possible issues. That can happen with any vehicle.

How long do you have left on the CPO warranty?

P.S. Canadian 335xi, ask for Narith as a SA. He is top notch.

I'm really disappointed to hear the negative comments. I was planning on using them for service, as their location is so convenient for me. And of course I most likely will sooner or later need to use CPO coverage. So that's too bad.

The car was first put in service June, 2009 so I should be covered to June 2015 since CPO covers 6 years or 160k km's. Mileage is not going to be a problem as the car has 81k km's now and I only put on about 10k per year.

Tomorrow (Thursday), I pick up the car.

I will keep you posted.

Cheers!

Lino, you have two years of CPO coverage man. Enjoy the car and don't waste needless energy on what may or may not happen to your car. Do you live in Ajax? I've met another 335d owner who lives in Whitby. I'm always through that area as my sister lives out that way.

Who were you thinking if using Endras (Ajax)?

I go to Endras for all my service, I only deal with Shant there. Also the shop foreman is extremely helpful.

Welcome to the diesel brethren.

Thanks guys.
Yes I live in Ajax. Any time you're in the area let me know, if I'm around we can get together and compare notes.
I got the car this morning and it exceeded my expectations. I'm impressed. The previous owner obviously took really good care of the car. Also being from Kelowna, BC (the car) helps. I don't think it has seen any salt.
Drives amazingly. The transmission is very smoth. Have not tried the paddles yet. The power (torque) of the engine is addictive. Love the diesel.
But there were a few things amiss. The car came unplated of course as they don't have Ontario plates in Alberta, but it came with no brackets for the plates either. I called the dealer in Edmonton, where I bought the car and they said:"Oops, sorry, just go to a dealer in your area and they will give you the brackets." Really? Are these brackets such a commodity that BMW just gives them away? Well, I guess this it will be my first test at Endras in Ajax. I will look up Shant, introduce myself and see how that goes.
Also, I have not found my wheel lock either. I need to find it before by snows get here and need to be installed. So, do you guys recommend run flats for snows? Since we don't have a spare, there isn't much of a choice, I guess.
Anyway, the car is very clean including the engine bay. Hard to believe it is a diesel.

Cheers!

Lino
