Show and share your winter setup...

Thought I'd create a thread for people to show off their winters!

It is my first winter owning a BMW and my fiancé convinced me to put on a set of winter tyres. I guess I will know in a few months if it was worth it or not. He has had them on his cars for a few years now and is sold on the idea.

We put on a set of 17 inch Borbet alloys wrapped in Dunlop winter sport 3D tyres (225/45/17) today. Took a before and after pic

Nice wheels. I actually prefer them to the MV3s.

They are nice! I'm thinking of spraying mine black when I take them off next year!

I'll just keep with the summers, which I've done every winter with no issues. Have found as long as there is plenty of tread on the tyres it's never been a problem.
My e36 328is was great fun in the snow with PS1s & the last time it snowed in Kent the Goodyear F1s were fine on the 335i it will be interesting to see how well the super sports handle a bit of snow.... If we get any

Thanks.

Tbh they came out darker than expected as they are supposed to be a dark metallic grey.

Don't know if I have the right to post in the UK section, but here's my winter setup.
Alpina reps 8x18 and 9x18. I bought them for my E87 to use as summer wheels but when i went to pick them up I found out they had brand new snow tires fitted, so I use them on my E91 instead.

Sitting on 17"s at the moment, hate the look so was in two minds about fitting them again this year, Vredestein performed well through the snow this morning.

Put mine on today, although it was 9c and no snow for miles. Heading up towards the Midlands tomorrow, see how they do.

I don't have a winter setup yet but I used to on a smaller front wheel drive car, winter tyres were brilliant in low temperatures and in the wet, grip on snow and ice was surprising (in a good way). I found the tread didn't wear much after the cold season either. Definitely an investment that probably works out cheaper than just using summer tyres in the long run.

Having driven the car today and yesterday in the snow/ice, I have to say that it was well worth the investment!

MV3 in gunmetal with Goodyear UltraGrip, with 12mm spacer on the rear.

Coped in the snow with no issues. Obviously, if i started in 1st gear and floored it, i went sideways. But start in 2nd and use the gas gently, no worries, but the braking was impressive! I couldn't get the ABS to kick in!

Great wheels Yngvejos - but you really do need some spacers. Your wheels have nearly disappeared inside the arches!

Utilitarian is the only way, continental style, no flashy alloys for me kids. Easy to clean aswell, but I don't wash it alot anyway (proper workhorse, gets washed every oil service 8/9k or summit)

RIKEN Snowtime's 205/55/16 - Been incredible in North Wales/England, highly recommended this tyre and very good value, done 10,000 miles on these since October (I do alot of miles) no visible wear at all!
