Many have.. mostly documented under the various CBU threads. Opinion is it's expensive, it works at treating the symptoms, but fails at addressing the root cause.

i've been hearing $250 for walnut blasting... sounds like reasonable cost from all the positive feedback perspective.

From where?! You can only get that kind of pricing if you had a gasser in a group buy.

Melonbread, the unspoken hint here is that the process for our D engine is different than that for the petrol engine, largely due to architectural differences for lack of a better word. Hence, the $250 price likely will not apply to you.

He will need other adapter wands for the 335d as the intake runs are differently shaped than that of the gassers. Once he does his first CBU cleaning on a 335d, he'll double that $250 price point.

Even at $500 that would be a good deal. Heck I might be willing to go get a cleaning just to see what things look like at 100k miles with an EGR delete

I have done it. There are lots of photos close by.
It is a slow, tedious process, but not hard.

The walnut blast is just part of the work. You need to send the intake out for cleaning, not blast the valve cover and give that an acetone scrub, clean the EGR, and then have the mass rebalance done to reset the injectors.

Change the boost hose seals if they are leaking. You have it all apart anyway and those a just a few bucks. Also change all the easy vacuum hoses, which is cheap when all the parts are already disassembled.

Look for the SIB. Searching for "SIB CBU" will probably do it.

Are you sure they were blasting plastic intake?

I did mine just using chemicals, went out good enough.
