Oxygen sensor pre cat E90 330i N52
Do I need to remove the engine cover to replace the pre-cat O2 sensors? Is it necessary if I have socket extensions ?

Yes, you need to remove the engine cover. The pre-cat sensors connect into a harness on top of the engine under the engine cover. You need to use an O2 sensor removal socket. I wrote a DIY to do the Bank 2 sensor probably 5 years ago. It's in the DIY section somewhere.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."
