Had the car checked at another indy who couldn't find anything wrong with pump, bushes, joints etc. They took it for another alignment and i think its now tracking straight in a way, because they've left the steering off centre to the right. I personally think for £90 thats shocking. Going back Sat to get that done.

See below kds results, they reckon the reason the car was crabbing was because there wasn't enough rear toe and the front wheels were going opposite ways.

Please can i get some advice on the results

I useed to do tracking many, many moons ago and it was not unusual to find the rear out of track, enough to make the car tend to drift to one side slightly, meaning you always adjust by steering off centre. So what they say is possible.

When I did 4 wheel tracking (lots of cords and mirrors), most people just bunged a couple of mirror guages on the front (and sometimes rear with FWD, and rear trailing arms). No real way then to check if your aligned front and rear were even on the same central axis.

Those initial results are shite, both the fronts are pointing to the right and the rears are pointing to the left, awful. The car would be trying to go round in circles!!! Who the feck adjusted that?

To make sure the wheel stays straight, they should clamp the steering wheel at 12 oclock with a clamp on the front seat before all measurements and adjustments.

Seems alot better after adjustment, except they didn't hold the wheel by the sounds of it. And the front right camber has gone out of spec?

Well.... two results dont meet manufacturers spec.

Thats why they are in RED.

I would ask why.

Rear camber is easy to achieve, the front not so easy and maybe something is bent as its a LOW value on OSF camber.
It was OK before they 'fixed' it - now its not. This is wrong.

Your car was crabbing because all the wheels were toed towards the kerb!
The THRUST ANGLE shows this clearly - ideally it is ZERO.
Before adjustment the rear end was fourteen sixtieths of a degree off line.
This is the direction the rear of the car will try to drive compared to directly ahead - where it should be

I didn't take the ar today so didn't see what happened.I'm taking it back tomorrow for them to strighten the steering wheel. They told my father that the reason the after adjustments are in red is because of tyre wear. It should have been done the moment the falkens were put on.

Another thing thats puzzling me is if you look at my initial kds from chemix earlier in the thread the results are way different. I'm worried now about that low o/s front camber, maybe something is bent??

I spose the only things thats good atm is that its not really seriou i.e. rack or steering pump and the fact the car as you put it isn't trying to turn round on itself, it actually did feel like that on the motorway (very scary) although haven't tried it on motorway yet... With you guys in the know, what should i be asking the chaps at the alignment place?

Aaaaaaghhh!!!!! i could cry

Got the car re-aligned and wheel put straight, guy even came for a quick test drive. Felt really good and running straight. Took it on the motorway and its still there, no resistance to the wheel, feels like when your doing those speeds and touched the steering wheel, it would spin the car, basically no confidence in the thing. Pull up at a garage, turn engine back on and its now knocking, revs going crazy, restart same thing, no power further up rev range. Looks like the dreaded si disease is in full swing now.

I give up on this si, reckon its just a bad apple and cut my losses. Someone said in one post 'unreliable heaps of junk', starting to believe this is very true!!


Well got it back today, thing just needed a bloody ecu reset, might have been a bit dramatic above. Must say on a & b roads the car is now really handling welland is no longer tiring to drive. The only problem that remains is when going motorway speeds where the steering is loose. The place that reset the ecu (bmw indy) said 'you wanna drive another one' there all like it, i really find this terible advice as i wasn't there but my father. What could be causing this final hurdle, attached are my latest Hunter Hawk Eye results, he said that the rear camber is out and theyve made every adjustment they can, they reckon maybe a warn rear bush??

Can an alignment go out of wack again!?!?

Driving the car this evening was terrible, pulling all over the place etc i think its bs what these indys and main stealers are saying that there is nothing wrong with the steering pump. Was great these last few days apart from high speed play in the steering....

So fedup out of interest has anyone had a pump replaced and how much it would cost parts & labour??

I never had a problem with the runflats, I'm used to an extremely harsh ride on a daily basis, soo any bump steer I was able to react quickly without any issue. Well react subconsciously actually.

Yeah since moving to the falkens, the ride is much improved. I'm sure my power steering pump is not working correctly, as you'll be driving say 30mph and the steering needs arnie to turn it lol, then it will go light again. Around town its bad but not as bad as when i go on the motorway, its so light and feels really dangerous.

Going for a power steering flush tomoz as i've read on some posts this can help. Looking in the power steering reservoir, the colour seems really dark and it also smells really burnt??

Just had a set of FK452 fitted at the Weekend. (Event tyres, brilliant job as ever)

Got a few trackdays planned this year, so I didn't want to trash £700+ of tyres when I can do it to £450 worth instead!

Not driven it yet, but they look good on the car, and they were great on my old E90 330i.
