DIY - Measuring DPF Backpressure using DIS V57
Please note that this DIY assumes that you have a working DIS V57 and you know how to read codes and the like. The guide assumes that you have connected to your car and selected the relevant model. My car is a 2007 330D European RHD model.
Once connected to DIS select the following menu options in turn: Control Unit Functions Function Selection Complete Vehicle Drive Diesel Electronics Particulate Filter System Particulate Filter Select button for "Test Schedule" Cancel the "Short Test" Option Select Particulate Filter DIS may indicate that "No problems are stored - Continue Test? (respond Yes) From the list of tests select option 4 - BackPressure test. DIS will guide you through each of the three stages of the test 1) Exhaust backpressure at Idling Speed 2) Exhaust backpressure at 2000 RPM 3) Exhaust backpressure at Cut-off speed (4000 RPM) The system will automatically set the RPM for tests 1 and 2 above. You will need to press the gas pedal/accelerator pedal for the 3rd test You will then get a display of the summary of the tests. The following screenshots indicate the process
