How to replace E92 tail light bulb

Is there a DIY somewhere? My brake light partially went out on the driver side. The outermost LED section of the tail light went out. What bulb do I need and where should I get it?

It honestly doesn't look that hard..I just want game plan before I start tinkering so I don't break something trying to figure it out.

Shure its not just one of the normal bulbs ?

Have a look at them

your owners manual should show you how to take the bulbs out from inside the trunk

I don't want to go to the dealer, hence the reason I made this thread...

This is the second times its happened. Thanks E90 fleet, I will take a look at the manual. I can actually see and touch the bulb from inside the trunk. But it's not the bulb I want to change. I can't get the black plastic piece out. Is there a screw I need to loosen?

Why BMW went back to conventional lightbulbs is beyond me...

LEDs would never burn out, it would last longer than the car itself, draws less energy, produce less heat, maintenance free, looks 10x better, is brighter....

Why BMW? Why?

TiAg, sorry haven't messed with it yet so i couldn't tell u how to open it..

Yeah, as far as I can tell it's a conventional standard light bulb. It looks like an LED from the outside but the actual bulb looks like a typical lightbulb.

LOL...wow. That is quite possibly the easiest thing I've done in my life. Thanks for that. The piece with all the lightbulb just popped out like magic. Couldn't be any easier! Thanks!

That just saved me a trip to the dealer and probably a few scratches/dings installed free of charge!
