Can I run race gas in my 335i?
My friend just pointed out to me where I can purchase race gas in my town.
I think it is 100 octane or a little more. Can I run this in my 335i N55 with Cobb Stage 2? I don't have the FMIC yet, but I'm getting one installed on Monday so I'll be running Cobb OTS Stage 2 + Aggressive map after FMIC is installed. I have the Cobb Charge pipe, VRSF Down pipe, and BMW PE. One Monday I will add a VRSF 7" FMIC. What will race gas give me?

I thought that you would need a tuned map, to address a higher octane, on the COBB platform.
Last time I checked, race fuel cost around $14 a gallon, in my area.

Its a waste of money without a custom tune for it. Otherwise nothing bad can happen and you can always run more octane than the car needs. Just as long as its unleaded race gas. Don't use leaded ever such as C16.

As the above mentioned, get a custom map done by Wedge or PTF. You want it to be able to supply the additional gains proportionally. From personal experience, get E85. I would invest in a LPFP Stage 2 by Steve. You'll be able to run E50. Plus, E85 burns up any unburnt fuel a lot better than 100 octane. I would use race gas maybe on the drag strip, but again it's up to you. Talk to some tuners. Good luck!

Thanks guys for the info. I was going to run the race gas at the drag strip. It is too expensive and the station is out of the way for me. I was just concerned about the impact on the engine. Are you guys running E85 / 93 oct mix everyday? I hear the MPG sucks, but the power is awesome. Are there any long term detrimental impacts of running E85 on the engine?

you can run race gas but it will be a waste of money without the car being tuned for it.

Keep in mind that E85 is a lot cheaper than 91 so it equals out.
