I completely agree. The case for a 335d is not as compelling as a diesel X5. The extra torque and efficiency will not be as noticeable in the 3er as it will be in the X5. Not much mpg benefit vs. the cost of diesel. They should bring a 4 banger TDI here as well. Then you'd see some real mpg difference.

Edit...for the 3 series I meant. X5 will be to heavy for a I4.

aqueous urea solution filler?

how would you fill it up? pee in it?

and i doubt the diesel model will be a success... they should've released it years ago when gas prices were rising and diesel was cheaper.

BMW USA should consider allowing the sales of a 320d. they do amazing on mileage, and deliver enough hp to keep up with traffic without impairing overtaking power.

I doubt that the cover is for the urea solution as it is going to be added at service interviles. With a large tank in the front wheel well and a smaller top up tank in the engine compartment. So it would be kinda silly to be putting it in the bumper.
Also keep in mind that a good amount of BMW business is the lease's so there will either be a higher residual on the Derv car or the price increase will not be that large.

Lassaxi---why would you not notice the extra torque in the 335d? My 335i has 300LB-FT. How could you not notice another 125 LB-FT in a car that weighs about the same---especially when already cruising on the open road.
I 'm thinkin this car will crack your head back from 50-80mph especially with the 7 speed DCT. More torque than a 550i, more than an M3! Yikes! More torque, gotta like that-and throw in better mileage. Sounds great!

Nothing suprising here, it is July and the "planned" spyshots were due.

Glad to see BMW NA offering more choices here. This is a step in the right direction. Hope it meets their expectations.

I will definately consider the TTD in the X5, can't wait to get behind the wheel and try it this fall.

I beg to differ in your opinion since that is indeed what the cover is for and the inactive tank is located there. The active (heated tank) is up front and the passive storage tank is located in the rear bumper on the 335d.

Originally the same setup was to be used for the X5 but due to third row seating it was moved into the front and the setup had to be modified, the first plans were to drop the 3rd row seating but marketing said no...

There is a specially designed bottle and filler so that a customer may do it without needing to bring it in for service (you know when the car is out of warranty).

f*** the advertised mpg, i only get <18 mpg driving 15 miles hwy and 5 miles local, what's up with that? what's the advertised mpg for 335i? 20 local and 30 hwy

I guess you know your stuff, but why have it on the exterior of the car it looks horrible, they will pop off when parking by brail, or get stolen. Could have easily being mounted in the trunk well. I would assume we are keeping 5 mile bumpers which would mean they are suppose to move a little how will that effect the neck going from the bumper to the sheet metal.

The tails are LED, like the X6.
